Harps set their sights of Ulster

Derrygonnelly captain Ryan Jones lifts the New York Cup as his side claim a three-in-a-row of Fermanagh SFC titles.

Manager Sean Flanagan was already turning his thoughts to the provincial championship after Derrygonnelly completed a four-in-a-row of Fermanagh SFC successes yesterday.

The holders overpowered Ederney by 2-16 to 0-10 to set up an Ulster club SFC preliminary clash with either Scotstown or Ballybay. Last year, they suffered an agonising replay loss to Cavan Gaels at the semi-final stage and Flanagan is hoping they can improve on that this time.

"The boys have been out in Ulster now for a few years. Last year, we felt we didn't do ourselves justice, we felt we should have been in an Ulster final," Flanagan told the Irish News.

"This bunch of players have real drive, really want to compete at the highest level, and I've no doubt again that after a few days's celebration, they'll be knuckling down for whoever comes out of Monaghan."
