Cassidy feels they have the right formula

Ederney manager Michael Cassidy is confident that his side’s blend of youth and experience can trouble Derrygonnelly in Sunday’s Fermanagh SFC final at Brewster Park.

Going in as massive underdogs, Ederney have been written off by many as their opponents seek a coveted four-in-a-row.

However, the experienced Cassidy feels that they may just have the right formula in the team to cause an upset on this occasion.

“Experience is crucial for any side. You can’t have too young a side, you need that essential core of experience. And we have that core of long serving players,” Cassidy told the Fermanagh Herald. “Yet we do have a balance and there is good pace moving out of defence into attack.”

On Derrygonnelly, Cassidy believes that his charges can take heart from their win over them in last year’s league semi-final.

“Going for four-in-a-row speaks for itself, but we had a fine victory over them in last season’s league semi-final and we have to take heart from that. If we put in a similar performance we can win this game.”
