Fermanagh defender Ryan McCluskey has announced his retirement from inter-county football.

The Enniskillen clubman, who turned 37 in June, revealed the news this morning "after 19 years wearing the green and white".

McCluskey was a key man in the Ernesiders' defence for the best part of a decade-and-a-half and was central to their run to the 2004 All-Ireland SFC semi-final and again to the Ulster final four years later.

Having made his debut in 2000 as a teenager, he has since played under nine different managers which included the likes of Charlie Mulgrew, Malachy O'Rourke and Pete McGrath.

In his farewell message on Twitter, 'Clucker' thanked his team mates, managers, backroom teams, supporters and family.
