County Hurling Championship
Craobh beat brigids in that match 1-16 to 2-9 i think poor enough game skill levels were very poor . Brigids were missing two Dublin senior panelists in Aodhan McInerney and Sean O'Sullivan. Ennis did most of the damage for Croabh looked very good scoring a few nice points from tight angles. Daire Plunkett a stand out performer for Dublin u21's was poor for brigids with there best player being Cathal Doyle playing full back. McCrabbe was also fairly poor think he only got one score from play and was not overly in the game. Still think Lucan and Boden will be the ones to beat with Crokes just ahead of both O'Toole's and Craobh.

The point that never was - Dublin Vs Cork
Think you are right Dublinculchie. A more experienced streetwise team would have slowed the game down once they went back ahead after the penalty. Fair enough had Brogan stretched the lead to three or had they got another of the chances that went wide it would have been game over. Had they, on the other hand, held the ball up and passed it around, they would at the very least have run the clock down and forced Cork to commit themselves and maybe concede frees. Dublin women actually did that against Laois on Saturday to good effect.

The point that never was - Dublin Vs Cork
I think the lads were knackered and begging for the final whistle. The penalty foul was probably tiredness and a bit of panic. Also, remember the silly wides kicked by Ger Brennan and I think it was Bernard Brogan nearing the end. A more experienced side would have made those opportunites count by holding the ball up or making a run and going for the foul at that stage in the game. It was a missed opportunity alright, and they do not come around too often - also you cannot be in "rebuilding" mode forever, at some point you have to win the damn thing. Will Kerry be as bad next Year? Then again, no matter the year, it is never easy to win a championship. All that said, the Dubs can be proud of this year, great heart and effort. Maybe the guile, as somebody mentioned earlier, will come.

this is an old story, its the nature of a city, people are always moving, i lived in about ten parishes before i was eighteen, and i played with a good few clubs who have lads on the team who just arrived in the area and others who travel from other areas. The Brogans are from Castleknock and play with Plunketts for family reasons and have always played with that club. It wont happen as often outside dublin as there will be less movement. Saying all that, Ive played with more than one country clubs in Antrim and Kildare, and i can confirm that the clubs i played with had more than 10 outsiders.

Just noticed the serious lack of parish teams in the senior div 1 football league, there are still some like judes, isles, t gael, marys
the last 3 winners of the club champo vins, crokes, and boden all had at least 4/5 lads that were not originaly from the club, mabe not crokes as much but now you have teams like sylvesters, plunketts and ballymun who are taking the mick with bringing lads in and not giving lads who have played with there clubs since juvenile a chance.I really hope none of these win senior championship

New players to make county panel
i seen your minors against kildare in navan and the lad kilkenny looks exceptional and sweeney from your under 21s looks good also ,dont rate rock he is too hit and miss and wont add anything to the team, if ye can find 2 or 3 more forwards along with the brogans ye are well on your way.

I wouldn't be going so far as to say we're a top 2 team there stekhli. I don't agree with everything that Ewan McKenna wrote but there is a different perspective as to how good we are:

parnells were nearly relagated from senior a few years ago, then they brought in a few past it intercounty players like rooney and parkinson, begley and tierney are very good but even with those players they are still an average side, so know surprise when trinity gaels beat them who are a very tough parish side who neber give up with some very good footballers like dean kelly, brendan o brien, graham dillion

New players to make county panel
Gilroy and selectors used the SFC last year to good effect and tried out a lot of new faces so I'd imagine they will do same again. For those complaining about forwards, however, anyone who watches club games is under no illusion that there are great unknown talents out there. Just watch the scoring averages for players over next few weeks. Almost guaranteed to be the same names again.
