Keaveney: Rory is up to the task

Jimmy Keaveney sees no reason why Dublin should give Aidan O'Shea special treatment on Sunday.

The towering Mayo full forward has been identified as the biggest single threat to the Dubs' hopes of setting up a traditional All-Ireland SFC final date with Kerry, but Keaveney feels Rory O'Carroll is up the task of marking him and that Dublin won't need to play a sweeper.

"The full back takes him and he can work out something with his corner backs, but I wouldn't put two players on him," the St. Vincent's and Dublin legend said after he was inducted into the GAA Hall of Fame at Croke Park yesterday.

"At that level, what's the other player you're supposed to be marking going to do? He could cause you all the problems.

"I think Rory O'Carroll is quite capable of handling him. Rory was playing very well and he is a well-gifted player and he would know exactly O'Shea's tricks and things like that and be prepared for him.

"He has got two corner backs who will cover up for him as well."

Keaveney is convinced that Jim Gavin's men can go on to lift Sam.

"They haven't been tested in Leinster and the first big test really is coming up on Sunday," he continued.

"But in saying that, they're all experienced players with a good manager and he'll be able to talk to them and let them know exactly what's coming. I hope everything works out, but I think it's theirs to lose."
