There were two crucial matches in the national football league tonight as well as a key national hurling league encounter.

Leinster champions and competition holders Dublin travelled to Castlebar to take on in-form Mayo in a crunch Division One contest - a game the Dubs needed to win to ignite their prospects of reaching the knockout stage.

Meanwhile, also in football, Meath welcomed Leinster rivals Laois to Navan for a mouth-watering Division Two encounter.

And, in hurling, Limerick could move within touching distance of promotion to the top flight if they saw off Offaly at the Gaelic Grounds.

All three games commences at 7pm and - as ever - we provides in-depth coverage.
