Following the opening weekend of Hurling League results, Kilkenny are now 2/1 favourites to top Division 1 after a superb win over Cork at Pairc Ui Rinn.

The holders were priced at 7/2 ahead of the match but were quickly cut in following their 1-22 to 2-17 win while Cork have been pushed out to 7/1 from 4/1 as a result of the defeat.

Tipperary suffered a heavy loss at the hands of Dublin and have drifted out to 9/2 from 3/1. Ger Cunningham's new-look Dubs have shortened right into 9/1 from 14/1.

Waterford are now 14/1 from a massive 25/1 following their 0-22 to 2-16 draw with Limerick, who are on offer at 7/1 from 8/1.

Galway's narrow victory over Clare has put a spanner in the works for The Banner County as they drifted out to 10/1 from 5/1 to win Division 1.

Galway, however, have shortened in from 10/1 to 8/1.

Aoife Heffron, PR Executive at BoyleSports, commented: "Kilkenny are topping the Division 1 betting and are now leaps above the rest, thanks to their win over Cork. Punters got behind the Cats and have backed them into 2/1 clear favourites."

She added: "Clare suffered the most from their defeat to Galway at the weekend, having once been contenders to win Division 1 they have been pushed right down the betting to 10/1."
