McManamon: Donegal defeat still hurts

Dublin forward Kevin McManamon admits last August's shock All-Ireland SFC semi-final loss to Donegal is still raw.

"Well, it's not something we are going to get over quickly," he is quoted as saying in the Irish Daily Star.

"We did look at it and tried to put it to bed, but it will stick in our memories for the rest of our careers. It was like losing in 2010 (to Cork) and 2012 (to Mayo), a few other years when we lost semi-finals and we probably weren't quite as well prepared.

"This time we were as well prepared as we could have been."

The St. Jude's clubman, however, fully expects the Dubs to recover.

"We'd be a very self-motivated bunch, I think anyway, and we'll get over it," he added.

"We felt that if one or two things had gone our way, we would have won the game but we just got caught out by a great side who simply performed a lot better than we did on the day.

"You just have to use what happened to try and pick the roses from the weeds. We'll certainly take the positives from it and move on."
