21 years after winning All Star award former Dub Star aiming for club championship glory!

Erins Isle returned to the Ladies football scene this year following a long absence however they have returned to the big ball game with a bang.

The Finglas crew who are coached by Ger O'Shea have enjoyed a remarkable season reaching the final of both the championship and cup while also claiming the division 9 league title.

Two stalwarts of their football panel Denise Smith and Siobhan Bissett both won All Ireland Junior Championship medals with Dublin back in 1989. Denise Smith was a top class Inter County footballer with Dublin who also won an All Star Award in 1993. Smith was named at midfield alongside Marie Fitzgerald (Kerry) other legends of ladies football include on the '93 All Star team include Mary Jo Curran (Kerry) and Sue Ramsbottom (Laois).

Smith and Bissett have linked up well with emerging young forwards Courtney Rooney and Nichole Kenny while Gillian McCluskey and Audrey Strutt have also shown great form throughout 2014 for the Erins Isle club.

The ladies of Wild Geese who are based in the North County village of Oldtown have also displayed tremendous form on the field of play in 2014. The "Geesettes" finished as runners up in the league to Erins Isle indeed their only loss in that competition was to the Finglas club while both teams will meet again in the Cup final which is fixed for October 19th.

The Rock family are synonymous with Dublin GAA and three Rock sisters will line out for Wild Geese in the championship final, Shannon, Laura and the newly married Hazel other key players for the North County club are Brona Monks, Ciara Jordan and Karen Durnin

Having lost the championship final in 2013 to St Patricks of Donabate Wild Geese will be determined to overcome the tough challenge presented by Erins Isle.

The two teams have meet on three occasions in 2014 the stats show one draw and a win apiece so tonight's encounter has all the makings of a classic, throw in time is 7.30pm in St Margarets everyone in Dublin LGFA wish both sides the very best of luck.
