Gregory McGonigle is convinced the Dublin ladies footballers will come back stronger from their All-Ireland final heartbreak.

Speaking after the Jackies surrendered a 10-point lead in succumbing to Cork by a point at Croke Park yesterday, the manager - who also lost All-Ireland finals to the Rebelettes with Monaghan in 2011 and 2013 - said: "It may not be me who leads them in an All-Ireland final, but they'll be in a stronger place now and come through over the next few years."

Confirming that he will be staying with Dublin for another year, McGonigle added: "We need to be a bit like a shark, every time a shark takes a bite it loses a tooth, but within 24 hours, it gets another tooth back and we'll be the same next year, we'll have to make sure we've the tooth grown back and go at it again."
