Bernard Brogan is hoping he will be considered for International Rules selection.
Ireland manager Paul Earley held his first get-together in Ashbourne, Co. Meath last weekend but, somewhat surprisingly, Brogan wasn't invited.
However, the former Footballer of the Year remains hopeful of featuring in the one-test series against Australia in Perth on November 22.
"I'd love to play," he said at an AIG event yesterday.
"Obviously my circumstances have changed a bit with work and stuff, running my own company so time commitment is a big factor for me at the moment.
"But as I said, if you're ever called to play for your country, you answer that call but I haven't got that call, unfortunately, yet."
Bernard has also expressed the hope that his older brother Alan will give it another year with the Dubs. Alan was forced to deny rumours that he had retired from inter-county football in the wake of Dublin's All-Ireland semi-final defeat to Donegal last month.
"I think he's loads to add," Bernard continued.
"Talking to the other lads in the team, they think he's loads to add and there's definitely a role for him.
"I don't know this as a fact, but he probably would have felt after missing the year and us after winning the All-Ireland that his role and his importance to Dublin wasn't as good as in the past.
"But, as the year went on, and he was so influential, I'd say at the end of the year when he looks back he'll say 'actually, there still might be a role for me'."
