Football top scorers: Brogan enters the top ten

Galway's Shane Walsh is still the man to catch

Bernard Brogan's 1-7 against Monaghan sees him move up the football top scorers chart.

The Dublin ace bettered his Leinster final tally by a point at the weekend and with 2-147 to his name, is now in joint ninth.

Brogan and Cillian O'Connor (2-23) are the only two players in the top ten who are still involved in championship 2014.

Galway's Shane Walsh is currently top of the pile with 1-29.

From open play Kerry's James O'Donoghue (1-13) and Tipperary's Con Sweeney (3-7) are the leading exponents.

Overall Fermanagh's Sean Quigley has the highest average score per game so far with 11.5.

Quigley has four goals to his name, as does Meath's Michael Newman.

The highest individual game tally so far belongs to Quigley (2-8 v Laois).
