Michael Darragh Macauley reckons Monaghan provided Dublin with their sternest test of the championship to date, despite the All-Ireland champions romping to a 17-point victory.
"It was definitely the toughest match so far," the Footballer of the Year told Sky Sports.
"Fifteen minutes into that game, we were all kind of blowing. We're just happy to get through. Monaghan were always going to bring a strong presence up here today. They really let us know about it in the first 15 minutes."
Dublin will now face Donegal in a mouth-watering All-Ireland semi-final and Macauley is hoping their attack will be just as devastating against Jim McGuinness' side.
"It was a great scoring performance from the lads up front. That's the kind of form we want to carry into the next game," he continued.
"Obviously we have a huge amount to improve on. We'll go back now, look at that and go into the next game."
