Dublin are giving Kerry back the Sam Maguire Cup … but only for one day, in aid of charity.

On May 16th, the Kingdom will have Irish sport's most famous trophy in their possession once more as Sam is brought to the summit of Ireland's highest peak by GAA legends from all 32 counties.

'Sam to the Summit' was launched at Keel GAA club in Kerry last night and it is hoped that the event can raise €100,000 for the Alan Kerins Projects in Africa.

For the first time ever, All-Ireland medals carried by players from all 32 counties will be in the same place at the same time - on the top of Carrauntoohil!

Dublin's Barry Cahill will be on hand to ensure that the merchandise is treated with respect, while others to have signed up include Cork's Graham Canty, Kerry's Seamus Moynihan, Mickey Linden of Down, Tyrone's Peter Canavan and 85-year-old former GAA president Dr Mick Loftus (Mayo).

GAA fans who wish to join up with their idols on the day can book a place on the trek by raising €2,500, which will go towards providing education for orphaned children in Zambia as well as clean water for villages and secure housing.
