Anthony Rainbow singled substitute Warren Egan out for praise after his equalising point provided the spark for Ballyboden St Enda's late surge in yesterday's Leinster club SFC final.

Undeterred by an earlier miss, Egan brought the Dublin champions level in the final minute of normal time with Eire Og before Ryan Basquel and fellow-sub Michael Darragh Macauley followed up with points to secure a 0-8 to 0-6 win in dreadful conditions at MW Hire O'Moore Park.

"You have to give a lot of credit to Warren," the Ballyboden St Enda's manager told the Irish Independent.

"He missed one when he came on and had the balls to step up and kick it over the bar the second time. We had that sort of fighter finish in the last five minutes.

“We have huge character in this team, we just didn't develop the 15 players taking to the pitch this year, we put a huge emphasis on the panel.

“If you looked at all our games this year, it's the finishers really that came on and win the games for us, they done it today, they did it against Garrycastle to a lesser extent and especially in the Dublin championship, it was the panel that won the games for us, not the starting 15, and we've put a huge emphasis on that this year.”
