Michael Darragh MacAuley's return to the basketball court ended in disappointment last night.

Dublin manager Jim Gavin was an interested spectator as the five-time All-Ireland winning midfielder tipped off his Super League career with Eanna against UCD Marian in UCD. However, the Dublin derby ended in a 84-79 victory for the students.

It was confirmed earlier this week that MacAuley had joined fellow GAA stars Kieran Donaghy (Tralee) and Aidan O'Shea (Sligo) in the Super League, with match-ups against Donaghy set for after Christmas. MDMA played a lot of basketball in his younger days before concentrating on his Gaelic football career.
