Castleknock players and mentors celebrate with the Dublin U15FC 'A' and 'C' silverware.

When your team is playing football in November, you are probably in the happy position of being at the business end of a championship competition.  When you have three teams playing Championship finals on the same afternoon, you must be doing something right!

That is where Castleknock GAA found themselves last Sunday when they competed in three Under 15s Football Championship Finals, capturing the "A" and "C" titles in the process.  Having already secured the "A" hurling title, the West Dublin Club reaffirmed the solid progress of the Somerton Park outfit.

Previously National Feile winners Castleknock "A" champions were fully tested by a Ballinteer side at Parnell Park who were arguably better in overall play. Speaking to Hoganstand.com Castleknock mentors, Paul Harding and Johnny Murphy acknowledged that a string of first half unanswered points from Ballinteer threatened to derail Castleknock title hopes.  However, Ballinteer were on the receiving end of three hammer blow goals from Conor Murray, Luke Swan and Fionn Gibbons to give Castleknock a scoring edge and allow the Somerton side a 3-8 to 1-12 win.

In the "C" championship final, Castleknock had the narrowest of wins over Round Towers Clondalkin finishing  5-6 to 3-11 at Blakestown Road.  Hampered by a seriously high wide count (17 in total), Castleknock just edged the fixture. Second half substitute Jack Lynch, with only half an hour to impress did just that that and put in a Man of the Match performance to help his side to victory.
