Any news on the Down team yet?
I hope Monan sees that he needs to make changes at fullback, possibly corner back and get his half backs to break the tackle rather than lying back and pumping high clearances up to a very poor aerially forward division. I'd play Dule at wing forward with Magic at No11 and C O'Prey on the other wing and hope we can do enough damage from there as we've very little else beyond that currently with Woodsy still suspended AFAIK.

Down v Armagh
James Mc Cartan has decided to keep faith with the first 15 that lined out in Ballybofey last week.
Fans will be looking for big performances from their players as the County goes into a clash with Armagh brimming with confidence for the first time in years.
Armagh will of course be ready for the challenge and it makes for an interesting tie. The mouth waters at the best of times when these two Counties meet and this occasion will be no different.
The very fact that Down legend Paddy O Rourke will be leading a team out against his home county makes the clash all the more appealing. That coupled with the fact that both counties are vying for top spot
in Division Two will undoubtedly mean that Páirc Esler will be near capacity on Saturday evening.
Down registered 13 points against Donegal last week but one anticipates that they will need to be more ruthless in front of the sticks against the Orchard County if their unbeaten run is to continue.
Patrons are reminded that the match is all ticket and a big crowd is expected so all are advised to make their way to the ground at least 45mins before the game.
Down Team;
1. Declan Alder
2. Daniel McCartan
3. Brendan McArdle
4. Damien Rafferty
5. Kevin McKernan
6. James Colgan
7. Conor Garvey
8. Ambrose Rogers
9. Kalum King
10. Danny Hughes
11. Martin Clarke

16. Brendan McVeigh
17. Kevin Duffin
18. Mark Poland
19. Aidan Brannigan
20. Peter Fitzpatrick
21. James McGovern
22. Conor Laverty
23. Ronan Murtagh

Parking restrictions at Down v Armagh game
Although technically against the "Highway Code" 40 years without a single incident is a pretty good safety record.
Surely simple common sense could have continued to prevail.
I would guess that at least 1/2 the people attending the match arrive from this direction.
I think we can safely anticipate around about 2,000+ cars trying to park & exit Greenbank will be chaos.
Please post on Sunday to tell me what a good idea this decision is.

Make sure your cars taxed and insured, etc - our good friends in the police had a wee peek round the cars at the Tipp and Meath match!

Would fancy Down to win this one. Can't judge results v Westmeath. Saw them in Carlow 2 weeks ago, and they are a total mess. 100% sure to be relegated, couldn't believe how poor they were.
So wouldn't reckon Kildare beating them by 10 or whatever is a reason to be afraid of them.

Parking restrictions at Down v Armagh game
Like everyone else, I found it very handy to park on either the hard shoulder or the central reservation of the dual carriageway in the past. However, we have to be realistic and accept that it was against the Highway Code. It is risky to pull out from the hard shoulder into traffic, and even more dangerous to cut across the central reservation, so the laws are there for a good reason. They may not have been previously enforced, but that had to change at some stage. Cars parked in Greenbank take a while to get away, but the police do stop the oncoming traffic regularly to get everyone out. The bottom line is that when there is a crowd of over 10,000 at any match, as there will be on Saturday night, some delays are inevitable. If Down win, I won't care.

Theres any amount of free parking available in Greenbank Industrial Estate beside the ground and those vechiles are
given preference by the police after the game.I have parked in their a few times and found it very handy getting away
after the match.
The Shamrocks Club now open their bar before the games and the crack is always good there. They are opening on SAT.
AT 5-30 to show the rugby match.

Parking restrictions at Down v Armagh game
The Newry - Warrenpoint dual carrage way has been there since the mid 70's, and people have parked there for matches since then (Nearly 40 years, which is about as long as I can remember).
Parking was one of the advantages this ground had for development over other candidates for the county ground e.g. Newcastle.
Parking on the grass was OK with the RUC right throughout the troubles, but the last day against Tipp I was moved on by th PSNI.
Implementing this rule is just petty.
Had to park in Greenbank, which took about 1/2 hr to get out of even with the small crowd that was at that match.
Perhaps someone from the County Board could take this issue up for Saturday & future matches

Is anyone else annoyed about no parking on the central reservation of the dual carrageway?
What was wrong with parking here, as people had done for many years without incident.
Agree with you 100%. Can't see any problem with the way it was before hand. I'd wager there was probably a few complaints put in from non Gaa people. If there is a big crowd saturday night it will be chaos.
I think there is a reduced rate for the terrace for under 16. This was posted 15th March.
Tickets will be priced as follows
Stand
£13.00 €15.00
UNDER 16 £4.00 OR €5.00
Terrace
£10.00 or €13.00
Under 16s £4.00 or €5.00

Very hard game for us to win especially on the road. Kildare give Westmeath a right hammering last weekend and will be favorites to make it two wins in a row. However, Down did beat Westmeath on the road last year in the league when no one expected it.
Maybe last weekend was a wake up call for this bunch.

Dhiuibh, u are wrong, Carryduff do have a senior soccer team, they are managed by the legendary Eoin Conway. However they are not as good or as widely supported as the Carryduff hurling team who in the words of Senior soccer manager Eoin Conway "will win the junior all-ireland hurling championship this year". Up the duff!
