Aughawillan club notes

Senior Championship Round 2: Aughawillan took on Kiltubrid on Sunday in Pairc Sean in the second Round of the Championship. Aughawillan took the first scores of the game and after twenty minutes were leading 1-03 to 0-01. Aughawillan continued to lead and scored a second goal and two points. Kiltubrid kicked in to action and clawed back in to the game in the final ten minutes leaving the half time score Aughawillan 2-05 to Kiltubrid 0-04. Kiltubrid opened up in the second half with a near missed goal and three points missed. Finally favor was with them and Kiltubrid scored the first point of the second half. Michael Prior was replaced by Ronan Maxwell. Kiltubrid go on to narrow the margin with two points and a goal, while the tension is rising among supporters. Pierce Dolan scores a goal and the Aughawillan crowd are seen for the first time in the game to rise to their feet. Aughawillan score another goal and a point with the aid of some quick actions by Sean Flanagan and Ciaran Gilheany who volley the ball in  to Pierce who scores. Barry Prior makes a run down the field passes the ball in to the safe hands of Sean Flanagan who scores. Kiltubrid 1-09 to Aughawillan 4-08. Poccession is won by Kiltubrid who bring the ball to the centre of the Aughawillan goals in what can only be described as a rugby huddle, but the cool hands of Colin Maguire remove the threat and kick the ball to the corner. The ball is in action again with only minutes left a final point is scored by the Aughawillan men and the whistle is blown. Final score Aughawillan 4-08 to Kiltubrid 1-12. The Championship continues. Willies Abú!!! 

 

Junior Championship: The Championship continues for the Junior team as they take on Bornacoola in Aughawillan on Saturday evening at 7pm. Why not pop down and support the lads. Willies Abú!! 

Minor Championship: St. Brigid's had a bye from Glen Gaels last week and collected the points, St. Brigids will also have played Annaduff by the time this will reach press, having been played on Tuesday evening in Drumreilly.
