'Hurl with Me'

This Wednesday, 25th May, Ulster Camogie coaches will attend Dunavil to coach parents etc between 6.30pm and 7.30pm while the children attend Camogie practice.

This is the perfect opportunity for mummies and daddies, grandparents and others to get involved in promoting Camogie with our young people - its only 1 night a week, its only for 5 weeks and it's at Dunavil - what could be easier! Get Involved - Play Your Part in Your Children's Development - You Can Do It!

With numbers soaring and the launch of our Camogie Academy only a week away there's no better time to get involved. Parents and family members have a very important role to play. We would encourage them to participate in club activities

while their young people are playing our games; this will encourage them to keep coming back

On Wednesday 1st June at 8pm An Riocht will launch our 'Camogie Academy' for primary school girls.

An Riocht Planning & Physical Development committee will meet at 11am on Saturday coming, 28th May, at Dunavil. This committee should organize all necessary business to complete development projects - filling in applications, liaising with professionals, etc. Development is more than about developing Club facilities. It is about developing the Club as a unit in terms of administration and activity. The committee should seek ways to improve the general organisation, structure and efficiency of the Club and ways to improve the facilities in the Club. It should ensure that the Club is availing of all administration resources and education programmes provided by the GAA for the Club and also manage long and short term grounds & buildings maintenance and repair work, risk management, accident control, keep records, and includes 'Safety Officer' position.

If you think you may have something to offer in any of these areas of Club life then please come along on Saturday for one hour, especially if you are not volunteering in any other capacity at present. If you are interested but unavailable at 11am on Saturday, then please let us know in advance.

Kingdom YC/An Riocht GAA will hold a joint Volunteer Recognition event at Dunavil as part of the thirty-second annual Volunteer Week celebrations on Thursday 9th June at 7.30pm. Our organisations could not operate without volunteers, they are the local heroes who help us provide vital services to this community, their dedication and hard work deserves to be recognised in this way. Wendy Osborne CEO Volunteer Now, who attended the last such event at Dunavil, said 'I am delighted that so many organisations are taking part in this year's Volunteer Week celebrations. It marks the positive impact volunteers make on the lives of people and communities. Many organisations could not deliver the services they offer without volunteers. Likewise, the stories of volunteers, what they do and why they got involved provides inspiration for us all.'

The Senior Camogs are hoping to host a Senior Tournament on Saturday 11th June to break up their six week exam layoff.

The Senior Footballers played in Liatroim on Friday evening and recovered from a horrendous start which saw us trail by nine points after ten minutes and score 1-3 in the final five to win the match 3-12 to 3-11 to record our first away win since the opening day of the season.

An Riocht: Brendan McVeigh, Michael Clarke, John O'Rourke, Liam McVeigh 1-0, Sean Clarke, Paul Allen, Conor Doyle 0-1, James Cunningham, Ronan McAlinden 0-1 (1f), Conor Cole 0-1, Martin Clarke 0-4 (2f, 2x45), Deaglan Morgan 0-1, Declan Doyle 1-2, Noel McArdle 0-2, Rory Cunningham.

The Reserve Footballers lost in Liatroim,3-12 to 0-9, their first defeat of the season, with a ramshackle display akin to a poorly drilled juvenile outfit with forwards behind their men, passing to feet, and defenders too often in the wrong half of the pitch. Three points clear at the top of the table with five of their remaining six fixtures away from Dunavil, it's a performance they cannot afford to repeat; but for five point blank Stephen Doran saves our score difference would have taken a battering.

Team: S Doran 0-1 (f), C Mulligan, B Rodgers, M Rooney, A Sloan, A O'Hanlon, D Matthews, C Cole 0-3 (2f), K Colgan, J McCartan, M O'Rourke 0-4 (3f), R Spiers, A McVeigh, M Harper, D Campbell. Subs: S McArdle 0-1, R Foley, C Morgan, B Allen. Subway An Riocht Player of the Match: Stephen Doran

The U14 Footballers lost 3-15 to 4-10 in Warrenpoint and 11-10 to 5-13 to Clann Na Banna in two games played last week.

The Brian O'Hare Cup & Shield U12 Football 9-a-side took place at An Riocht

with Coralstown-Kinegan (Westmeath) deposing holders Burren in the Cup Final and Shane O'Neills holding onto the Shield with victory over St Peters Lurgan in an all Armagh Final. An Riocht reached the Shield Quarter Final playing matches with Burren, St Peters Lurgan, Coralstown-Kinegad, St Brigids and Ballinderry.

Thanks to all those who helped make the day a good success and it will all have to be done again in a fortnight when we host the Jim Mulholland Cup, Shield and Plate tournament with 45 teams from 10 counties playing 132 games on 9 pitches in a 5 hour period; so clear the decks, it will take everyone playing their part to ensure another successful event.
