Glasdrumman club notes

May 23, 2016

Our Seniors have had mixed fortunes this week with a vital home win over Kilclief on Monday and defeat away  against their East Down neighbours Saul on Friday.

Eire Og U-14s were in action on Monday night at home against Ballyholland B. This was a thrilling game from the start and it was the visitors who went into the break in the lead. The Eire Ogs, however, stepped up a gear and soon found themselves back in the game. Every single player gave their all and ended up with a convincing win.
Then on Thursday night it was another home fixture for the U-14s when they faced Glenn. The Eire Ogs were in control of this game from the throw in and were deserved winners in the end making it 3 wins in a row for them.

On Monday night the U-14s are back in action with an away fixture against Atticall.  Report next week.  Training continues on Wednesday at Pats Road from 6.30 until 7.30.
On Wednesday evening the U-10s faced a strong Attical side, there was some bright spells of football from the Eire Ogs but it was Attical who got the win.
Every one of these young players in each of the juvenile teams have a great attitude in both training and during games, they enjoy their football, are a delight to watch and are a credit to their clubs. Well done boys and girls!
Tonight (Wednesday) the U-10s  travel to the Kingdom in round 4 of the Mourne League.

The Eire Og U-12s gave a good account of themselves in the Brian O'Hare tournament yesterday in the Kingdom. They beat Burren B in the group stage to secure a place in the qualifiers of the shield. Their opponents were St Johns and a great match ensued but the Eire Ogs played their best football of the day to win the game comfortably. Next it was on to the quarter final to play Castlewellan, the Eire Ogs started brightly and despite putting a lot of shots wide it was them who went to the break well in the lead, however, Castlewellan played the better football in the second half and it was them who progressed to the semi final. It was a great day of football and an extremely well organised and enjoyable tournament.

They had no league game this week, next Sunday the Eire Ogs face Shamrocks B at home.  Players to be at the Quarter Road pitch at 10.30am.

Training continues on a Tuesday evening at the Quarter Road from 6.30 until 7.30.

There will be a Child Protection course in the clubrooms on Tuesday 7th June from 7pm until 9.30pm.  We would encourage as many people as possible to avail of this opportunity.  The course is open to everyone: parents, coaches, players over 16,  youth club volunteers or anyone interested in volunteering in any aspect of the club in the future.  If you wish to secure a place please let Gary or Catherine know asap.
