Aughlisnafin club notes

February 01, 2016

The club are extremely pleased to confirm the appointment of an exceptional new management team for our senior ladies footballers. The management team, led by Gerard McAnulty Jr, includes his father Gerard senior, Kilcoo & Down player Paul Devlin with Seamus Branniff making up the quartet. The Ladies squad have been bolstered by the return of some former players together with some new recruits and with a strong, experienced coaching staff they will be looking to mount a decent challenge this season. We wish the players and the management team the very best of luck in their endeavours.

The Ladies are already back to pre-season training and this weeks schedule, which can also be viewed on the Ladies Facebook group page, Friday at 7.15 pm in Kazoku and also on Sunday at 10 am in Castlewellan Forest Park. New players welcome.

The draft fixtures calendar have just been published and the club's Senior men look set to kick off their Division 4 campaign on Friday 8th April. The management team for the men has yet to be appointed. It is an excellent opportunity for an energetic and forward thinking coach to build on last season which was the men's best finish to a league campaign in their recent history. If any person or persons is/are interested in the position and would like more information please contact our club coaching officer Gerard Lenaghan on 07854262858. Any enquiries will be treated strictly confidential.

The club will participate in the Night Time Gaels U-15's 9 aside football programme to be held every Friday in February from 8 to 10 pm at the Red High 3G pitch, commencing this coming Friday 5th February. The squad will be selected from those available on any given week.

Pre-season for the U-16's will commence this weekend. Details to be advised. The manager of this group is Dolen Croskery. Dolen was in charge of the U-14's the previous season and he will be assisted by Gerard Lenaghan (coach / mentor) with Paddy Flanagan (selector) making up the back room team.

Appointments for the remaining underage teams will be confirmed in the coming weeks. If anyone would like to help out with any of our underage teams in any way, shape or form please get in touch with Gerard Lenaghan. Everyone involved in helping with the coaching of underage teams must agree to vetting by Access NI and attend a Child Protection seminar which the club will fund. Those volunteering to manage any teams must complete the Introductory (Foundation) Coaching Award.

The Gaelic Start Winter Coaching Programme for the U-8.5's continues in the Fin Hall every Saturday morning from 11 to 12 pm. New members welcome to attend. It costs £2 per child. Everyone should bring a juice bottle and also have their gumshields.
