Aughlisnafin club notes

September 28, 2015

Aughlisnafin U12.5's put in a gutsy performance to come from two points behind and a player down with ten minutes remaining to beat Carryduff by a point in their opening East Down B Championship game in Annsborough on Sunday morning. The North Down side edged a closely fought first half to lead 2-6 to 1-6. In the second half the 'Fin came storming back to outscore the visitors 3-6 to 2-5 with Carryduff getting a goal right at the end. Both sides played their part in a very entertaining game. Final score Aughlisnafin 4-12 Carryduff 4-11. Next up is another tough game away to Liatroim this Sunday at 12 noon.

*Training for the U12.5's every Thursday at 6.00 pm in Annsborough.

*The Seniors were awarded a walk over victory against St Pauls who were unable to fulfil the fixture and so collected both points on offer to cement third place in the league table and, in the process, they reached another pre-set milestone. Next up are second placed Teconnaught who along with the 'Fin are looking to retain division 3 status in the new restructured leagues next season. The game will be yet another test for the 'Fin's fledging credentials in what has been a remarkable season to date. The game will be in Teconnaught with a 4 pm throw in. The final game of the season will be at home to the league winners and JFC Finalists Glasdrumman on Sunday 18th October at 2 pm. Two tough games to finish a season !

*The club will be hosting a 'Stars in their Eyes' night on Friday 24th October. Several acts have already been confirmed and we are looking for a few more. Acts may sing or lip synch. A cash prize of £100 for the winner is up for grabs. If interested please contact the club. It will be run in conjunction with Simon Walsh of Island Events and will be a night not to be missed.
