Glasdrumman Club Notes

September 28, 2015

Congratulations to our Senior squad in reaching Junior Championship final for only the second time in our history. An ironic twist of fate put us up against Dundrum our opponents in that first final in 1997. Thankfully this time the winning margin was more than the solitary point scored by Declan Grant on that memorable day in St.Patrick's Park. Dundrum put on a very dogged determined display against Glasdrumman and thanks to a great overall team performance from defence right  through to our midfield and forwards, every man played his part in securing us a place in the final against Ardglass in Pairc Esler Sunday 11 th October throw in 2-00p.m.  A big thank you to our supporters who's vocal encouragement provided a great lift for the squad.  Final Score  Glasdrumman 1-13 Dundrum 1-7  Glasdrumman:Sean Cunningham, Daniel McCartan, Art McCartan (capt), Christopher Cassidy,Ryan Clerkin,Colm Carr,Christopher McDowell,Cathal Rodgers0-02, Shane Harrison0-01, Paul Grant, Niall McGovern,Raymond Clarke, Raymond Magorrian 1-01, Cormac Murphy 0-04, Connaire Harrison 0-04 Subs: Mark Trimble, Darren Joyce 0-01, Sean McDowell, Richard McAteer, Frank O'Neill, Ryan Doran, Declan grant, Colm Murphy, Gerard McDowell, Sean McVeigh, Conor McCartan, Paddy Kelly , Shaun Brennan.  Tough Training ahead for all the squad we wish them all the best for the upcoming final.

The u-12 season finished on a high on Wednesday when a convincing win against Atticall secured the Eire Ogs unbeaten record in the summer league, making them league winners! Well done to the players who gave their all every week in training and in matches. A big thank you to the parents for their support every week. A special thankyou must go to Paul, Johnny and Adrian for coaching and mentoring the boys and girls. This fantastic run in the summer league proves that hard work pays off!

The U-11 league started on Sunday morning and the Eire Ogs travelled to St Michaels, Magheralin.  Despite missing a few players the Eire Ogs started lively and were in control the first half of the game.  Unfortulately, a few decisions went against them early in the second half, this coupled with the fact that the young Eire Ogs just ran out of steam meant they were beaten in the end.  Keep your heads up boys and girls, hopefully we will be back to full strength next week for the home fixture against Tullylish.  Players to be at the Quarter Road Pitch at 10.20am on Sunday morning.
U-11 training will be tonight (Wednesday) from 6pm until 7pm at the Quarter Road Pitch.
