Glasdrumman club notes

July 27, 2015

Despite the inclement weather the last U-12 league game of the season was played at home to Annaclone on Sunday morning.  The Eire Og's were comfortable from the start and eventual convincing winners. The scoreline however, did not do justice to the young Annaclone team who battled hard right to the final whistle.  This win means the U-12s ended their league campaign as they started it in April with a compelling win. The young Eire Og team have shown great skill and potential throughout this league campaign with each individual player contributing to what was a great team effort.  From the powerful, accurate kick outs of young Nathan in goals to the strong back line who worked tirelessly every game cutting out opposition attacks, to the midfielders who always showed strength, speed and good catching ability and the precision and accurateness of the forwards each player demonstrated their strengths every game and ensured the Eire Og's were resilient opposition. Well done to everyone!
Training continues on Wednesday from 6pm until 7.30pm at the Quarter Road pitch.  It is important that all players attend training as we will be preparing for the new summer league which is due to begin on Sunday 16th August.
U-6, U-8 and U-10 training will be at the Quarter Road pitch on Wednesday from 6pm until 7pm.  Our annual U-10 tournament will take place on Sunday morning with the 1st games due to throw in at 10.30am.  This is always an enjoyable day of football and we encourage everyone to come along and support our young stars.
Manic Mondays are proving to be a great success.  The kids are enjoying their various projects and fun activities.  Manic Mondays continue every Monday throughout the summer.

Our deepest sympathies to the Keenan and Thompson families on the death of Stephen Keenan great uncle to our underage players  Harry Ollie and George.

Glasdrumman seniors had a comfortable away win over Killyleagh. Final score 8.22 to 0.05. Next game will be home to Ardglass on Friday 31st of July and the Junior Championship will commence for us on Sunday the 9th August with a home game against Dundrum.

Workshop for those wishing to learn to sing Amhran na bhFiann Anthem will take place in Mayobridge on Wed at 7.30 with a member of the All Ireland winning Ballad group providing the training. Congratulations to Glasdrumman's  Amy Marks as she embarks on her Down senior ladies career.
