Shane O'Neills club notes

July 20, 2015

Senior Men

Our senior men suffered another disappointing home result on Friday evening, going down by six points to Middletown, 1 - 8 to 0 - 5.

The Shanes were playing with a strong breeze at their backs in the opening half but it was Middletown who hit the front with an early goal. The sides then swapped points with Mark McCabe on target for the Shanes and low scoring first-half ended with Marc Feehan tapping over for the home side. Middletown registered the first two points of the second-half to lead by four but three successive points for the Shanes had them back to within one, with Connaire Mackin, Ryan McCabe and Paul O'Rourke on target. However, this was as good as it got for the Shanes as Middletown defended their lead and hit their opponents on the break, scoring the last five points of the game to claim the win.

One positive from the game was the return of Kristian Magill to the Shanes squad.

The club would like to thank Ballygorman Contracts who sponsored Friday night's game.

Senior Ladies

Our senior ladies are scheduled to play Dromintee on Wednesday evening. All players are asked to meet at the club at 5.45pm.

Minor Boys

The minor boys have a home game on Monday evening against Wolfe Tones.

U16 Boys

The U16 boys return to action on Thursday evening at home to Dromintee.

U14 Girls
The U14 girls take on Armagh Harps in the U14 Division 1 championship semi-final at 7.00pm this Wednesday evening, 22nd July. The venue for the game is not yet known but all the girls will be notified as soon as the venue is known.

Well Done

Well done to the Mackin sisters, Aimee and Blaithin, who were part of the Armagh Minor Ladies team who defeated Roscommon in the All-Ireland semi-final on Saturday.  Well done also to Yasmin Mackin who is part of the backroom team. The victory sees them through to an All-Ireland final where they will meet Tipperary.

Lotto

Congratulations to Phyllis Kimbley who matched all four numbers in last week's lotto and won the jackpot prize of £1400. The winning numbers were 3, 14, 19 & 24. Next week's jackpot is back to £1000.

Condolences

The club would like to offer its sympathy to the family of Veronica Dalton who died last week. Veronica was a good friend of the club and we extend our sympathy to husband Mike and her children Micheál, Caoímhe, Aodhan (former underage player) and Blinne.
