The emphasis in all the tournaments will be on enjoyment and playing against new teams. Teas and sandwiches, burgers and juice will be on sale. An Riocht sixth annual Social Sevens will be held this year on Saturday 1st  August from 1pm to 5pm. Social Sevens is for adults who do not play competitively and has replaced Masters in prolonging involvement in the national games with the one obvious difference that there is no lower age limit. More than likely these players will be over 35 years but basically anyone who wants to play for a bit of fun or to keep fit can participate; the feedback from players is that they like the opportunity to meet up with former teammates and opponents. Social Sevens is also a great opportunity to keep in touch with Gaelic Games at a friendly, social level and is an effective way for past players to become reacquainted with their Clubs and as a result perhaps get involved in coaching underage teams. Entry fee £50 per team (£5 per player). Running alongside the JG Donnan Social Football Tournament will be the Carmel Doran Social Camogie Tournament which is run on the same principle as the Football. To take part contact An Riocht at [email protected]  All players are advised that if they get injured they are not covered by the GAA player insurance policy and should have their own personal cover.
The first Saturday in July is fast becoming synonymous with the Kingdom 2 Cooley Charity Cycle and last week saw another very successful event by the Kingdom club with over 80 cyclists setting off on a 110K charity cycle, Kingdom to Cooley '2'.  Everyone made the journey safely and raised funds for PIPS Newry & Mourne & Southern Area Hospice.
We want to sincerely thank everyone for making the day a massive success. Thanks to JMC Cycles Dromintee & Mourne Cycles Newcastle for their generosity in helping get our bikes fit for the big day. Thanks to all the marshals along the way and the excellent motorbike team who helped get the cyclists to Cooley and home again safely. A big thanks to the local businesses who donated refreshments for the event, especially Rafferty's Garage, Pound World, ASDA, Spar Binian Fresh Foods, Williamson's NISA Local Rostrevor.  A sincere thanks to everyone involved in the registration, providing teas, first-aid, taking photos etc. and to Cooley Kickams & Newry Shamrocks for hosting pit-stops along the route.
Finally a sincere thanks to all the cyclists who took part in the Cycle, without you the day would not have been possible, and an open invitation to the presentation of cheques on Saturday evening 8th August when we will also be welcoming home our 'New York Rose' and star camogie player Sophie Colgan at an evening of family entertainment (more details later).
The third and final 'Kingdom Does Strictly' takes place on Saturday 14th November and while that may seem a long way away, practice will begin before the end of August and dancers of all ages, male and female, are still required. If it's something you might consider then don't miss this last opportunity and let Tara know asap.
There will be a Camogie coaching workshop at An Riocht before the end of July. It must be obvious that our camogie coaches are few and far between and spread much too thinly to deliver a quality experience to all our young camogie enthusiasts; the only way to address this serious shortcoming is to increase the number of coaches and coach assistants. Ulster Camogie Development Officer Ger Gribben has agreed to come to Dunavil and deliver a basic workshop to suit current coaches and prospective volunteers, that's parents, family members, former players, anyone who may be willing to give a hand, if you don't who will? More details soon.
CCC has released Championship Football details: the Reserves play in Annaclone at 6pm on Sunday 2nd August and the Seniors in Burren v Tullylish at 2pm on Saturday 8th August.
