FOOTBALL
SFL Ballyholland 1-8 Clonduff 1-8
Clonduff will have mixed feelings after this game whether it was a point dropped or point gained. Ballyholland started the game above Clonduff in the league with a reputation for playing defensive football but while the scoring was low, this certainly wasn't a dull game. Clonduff welcomed back 3 county seniors and had started the game with plenty of possession but poor decision making and shooting under pressure resulted in 9 first half wides. A sucker punch came in the 25th minute when a loose ball ricocheted across the Clonduff goalmouth into the arms of a surprised Ronan Murtagh who had a tap-in to the Clonduff net to leave the scores at 1-3 to 0-3.
In the second half Clonduff played with Aidan Carr and Arthur McConville in the full forward line and played several long balls to test the BallyHolland defence. Both men kicked a point each within 2 minutes and by the 14th minute Clonduff led by 1-5 to 1-4 following a long delivery into the Ballyholland square which was scrambled to the net. By this stage the game had become a feisty affair with some off-the-ball incidents but the referee without the help of any neutral officials to assist him was unable to pin point guilty perpetrators. Keen to settle the game down, he showed a straight red to Karl O'Hagan with 8 minutes remaining. An Arthur McConville free from 35 yards nudged Clonduff ahead by 2 points. Ballyholland used their extra man to run at the Clonduff defence and converted gifted frees from sloppy Clonduff tackling to lead by 1-7 to 1-8 with time up. However Clonduff launched one more long ball forward and having won the break ball, Conor Óg O'Hagan was fouled 21 meters from the Ballyholland goals. A cool Arthur McConville slotted over the free at which point the final whistle sounded.
Clonduff made full use of the subs bench and several players gained some very valuable experience in a tough, physical encounter. Mark Bradley made his Senior debut in goals and had a superb game, well protected by Mark McPolin and Conor Óg O'Hagan. Attacking play was restricted on both sides but with some tough fixtures ahead against more of the stronger teams this was a good taste of things to come.
Team: Mark Bradley, Kevin Smith, Mark McPolin, Conor Og O'Hagan, Paul Lively, Darren O'Hagan, Karl O'Hagan, Packie O'Hagan, Niall Tumilty, Kieran Trainor, Aidan Carr, Stephen Mc Conville, Finbarr McConville, Arthur Mc Conville, Barry O'Hagan. Subs used; Eamon O'Reilly, Gary Mc Donald, Gavan McGreevy, Ryan Brannigan, Rory McQuaid.

ACMFL
Clonduff Minors played two games in the past week securing their place in the semi final on Tuesday evening with a hard-fought but well deserved draw at home to a very strong Shamrocks team. Result: Clonduff 1-9 Shamrocks 1-9
Shamrocks raced in to an early lead, scoring 1-3 to no score after only ten minutes. A well taken goal by Conor woods and some well taken points left only 4 points in it at halftime. The boys stepped it up in the second half and drew level with time almost up. Shamrocks scored from a free in injury time to go a point ahead. With the last kick of the game Ryan McGreevy kicked a mighty point from a line ball.
A draw was a fair result on the night.
On Sunday at noon they entertained Burren - this was the typical game of two halves, Burren had all the play in the first half and Clonduff owned the second half and just edged the result Clonduff 1-10 Burren 1-9.
Panel: Conor Keenan, Jonathon Gribben, Aaron O'Hagan, Michael Mulholland, Darragh O'Hanlon, Noel Grant, Pierce Murnin, Charlie Carr, Conor woods, Conor Lowry, Conor Murray, Colm Fearon, Brandon Roe, Ryan McGreevy, Ross Carr, Lyndon Brown, Shane McGarry, John Boden, Ryan Matthews, Jamie O'Hagan
Best wishes to our U16 footballer John Boden who has been one of five Down boys selected to attend the Ulster GAA Player Academy in Jordanstown on Monday and Tuesday 6th and 7th July. Enjoy it John!

HURLING
Ulster HL Div 2 CPN (Warrenpoint) 2-8 v Clonduff 2-20
Clonduff Hurlers travelled to Warrenpoint on Sunday afternoon in the Ulster League trying to overturn the result from the last time the sides met when Warrenpoint were one point winners in Clonduff Park. The Yellas started the game at a high tempo and some long range shooting and great work-rate playing with the breeze paid off and the half time score was 1-15 to 1-1. In the second half Clonduff played against the breeze and at times lost their way around the middle of the field but when given the opportunity the forwards kept the scoreline ticking over and Clonduff ran out winners 2-20 to 2-8.
Team: Niall Quinn, Jamie Lowry, Danny Nugent, Patrick Branagan, Declan Rooney, Shane Murray, Darragh Downey, Brendan Britton, Rián Branagan, Fionnbharr Murphy, Mark Downey, John Murphy, Chris Young, Rhys Ward, David Quinn. Subs used: Andy Quinn, Conor Tumilty, Jamie Lynch
