Down are preparing to take Conaill McGovern's red card appeal to the next level.
Last week the Central Hearings Committee ruled that their was insufficient evidence to overturn referee Eddie Kinsella's decision to send off the Mourne County defender during the Ulster SFC quarter-final defeat to Derry.
McGovern was reported for striking Oak Leaf opponent Enda Lynn at Celtic Park and Down manager Jim McCorry informed The Irish News: "It's amazing considering that all the evidence was seen by all the pundits and everybody in the stand.
"Anybody that saw it didn't think it was a red card. I thought it was a mistake on the day and I thought it was a mistake when I saw it that evening.
"We're awaiting the report from last Thursday night's decision, we've had the verbal decision but we haven't got that report yet.
"We'll look at that and then we'll look towards taking it to the next level because we feel very strongly that Conaill was hard done by."
Down are due to travel to Wexford to take on the Model County in the qualifiers this Sunday.
"It obviously will have to be heard before Saturday night to allow him an opportunity to play in the game."
McGovern's Burren club-mate Donal O'Hare is also a doubt for the backdoor clash because of a calf injury.
"Donal is back doing some light training but he's still really very doubtful for us with the injury he got," McCorry explained.
"Aidan Carr and Gerdie Collins got quite serious injuries. Gerdie got his AC joint damaged in a club game and Aidan went over on his ankle fairly badly on the hard ground.
"All three of them are in rehab at the moment and we'll know better later on in the week but it's looking very doubtful for all three at the moment.
"Our medical team are doing great work to get them back for the weekend and we're hopefully that will weave some magic for us on it. But we'll have to wait until the end of the week and see."
