An Riocht club notes

May 18, 2015

An Riocht picked up 2 prestigious awards at the GAA presentation in Belfast last week.

·         Raymond Tumilty of O'Neills presents Tara Campbell with Club of the Year Award

JUDGE'S COMMENT: This club has really developed an excellent coaching ethos which went hand and hand with a research initiative among their membership that allowed them to draw into the club the skills and expertise of members that were not currently involved in the club as well as the establishing of the Men's Shed community organisation

·         Wendy Osborne of Volunteer Now presents Seamus Curran with Volunteer of the Year Award

JUDGES COMMENT: The medium club volunteer winner was selected based on his implementation of a new coaching programme that has doubled the number of children attending each week. There is now a huge emphasis on the positive progression of children.

The visitors played hard and from limited chances kept in touch and were buoyed by an injury time goal which saw them trail by two, 1-6 to 1-4 at the break.
