The Dermot Earley Cup was fittingly won by the Defence Forces at the 26th annual PhoneWatch Comórtas Peile Páidí Ó Sé which took place over the weekend.

Thirty-six adult men's and ladies club teams descended on the Dingle Penisula for what is regarded as one of the biggest football festivals in the country. The Defence Forces, with Kildare's Gary White and Padraig Fogarty in their ranks, along with Roscommon midfielder Ian Kilbride, defeated Down's Castlewellan in the senior men's final by 3-9 to 2-6.

The senior men's cup is named after the former Defence Forces Chief of Staff Dermot Earley Snr, whose son, also Dermot, was part of their management team.

St. Pat's of Blennerville were crowned men's intermediate champions after overcoming Cavan's Laragh United in the final. The men's junior title went to Garryowen who defeated their North London rivals Tara in the decider.

The senior ladies final was an all-Kerry affair which saw Rathmore get the better of local side Corca Dhuibhne.

Burrishoole of Mayo trumped Tralee's John Mitchel's in the intermediate final, while Dublin's Man O'War took the junior ladies crown at the expense of another Kerry side, Causeway.
