First Round Games
Great start to the Winter Handball League for the Clonduff players - both teams got off to a winning start.
Clonduff Shamrocks 5 v CPN 3 (Wed11th Feb)
With each game played 1st to 21 and service rotated no strong service player could dominate. It was played as a doubles format the duels were frantic with some fierce rallies and outstanding kills, especially from the home side. Both Teams deserve great credit for their sportsmanship approach to the contest and was much appreciated by the packed gallery of onlookers. The stand-out performance of Eddie Clancy was closely followed by Shane Murray and Niall Quinn but players the calebre of Ryan McShane, Chris O'Hare, Jayme Lynch and the power house Liam McParlan will be something to watch out for in their league run especially when Clonduff Harps meet them some four weeks away.
Warrenpoint GAA 3 v Clonduff Harps 5 (Thur 12th Feb)
Clonduff Harps matched the Shamrocks with another great win for the Yellas this time against Warrenpoint GAA Team played out in Newry Sports Centre on Thursday night , The Harps Team have within their ranks not only Clonduff,s most senior playing member but arguably the most talented handball player in the league and beyond namely Des McNeill.
Winning many rallies with his amazing agility and showing all the craft of a seasoned pro he put on a display any sports enthusiast would be proud off young or old.
Not to be out done his partner on the night and playing an impressive dubut performance was the young Jim Murnin. His Son Lee partnered Gavin McCann while Patrick and Sean Cowan along with Kieran Kelly and Conor Milligan completed the line out for Clonduff Harps handball wining Team players.
Well done lads!
