JUVENILE AWARDS NIGHT REARRANGED FOR FRIDAY 30TH JANUARY @ 7PM

U14/U16 Trip to Croke Park
A group of 45, U14s and U16s set out on Sunday to visit Croke Park and take in the sights and sounds of our National Stadium. All codes were represented with Football, Hurling, Camogie, Ladies Football and Handball.
Following the cancellation of our Juvenile Awards Night, all eyes were on the weather but with club colours on we all departed from the Clubrooms on a brisk morning in expectation of an entertaining day. Following a quick stop at the AppleGreen Station the bus made it's way through the traffic of the Capital and towards Croke Park.
The tour started with a behind the scenes video of Croke on the first and third Sunday in September. From here is was round to view the Players Lounge where the rival teams meet up post match. The dressing rooms were opportunity to hear stories of the habits and superstitions of each team as they prepare for the big game whether it was Joe Kiernan throwing his losers medal against the wall or the All-Ireland winning Dublin Team cleaning the dressing rooms up before they left. As the atmosphere builds and the nerves level increase the knock comes on the door to say it's time and it's out through the tunnel and the PITCH.
Photographs were taken on the Hogan Stand and an opportunity to dream of the day when you lift the cup and make the winners speech. Our U16 manager, Ross Carr, was able to remind our youngers players of those two great September Sunday's in 1991 and 1994. From here it was round to the Canal End and a chance to avail of some refreshments and look out over the magnificent pitch and dream of great days in the future where Clonduff Boys and Girls will wear the Yellow Gold of Clonduff or the Red and Black of Down.
Our tour was concluded in the Stadium Museum and a chance to practice some of the skills of our games and view the extensive memorabilia. This was a very enjoyable day for all that were there and we all look forward to the next time.

JUVENILE HANDBALL - FIVE COUNTY CHAMPIONS - Keeps getting better!
Clonduff had a total of 8 lads contesting county titles in Saval on Sunday 25th January and it seems every year the standard rises with almost every game a tight battle to the end.
It was in the doubles games where our boys found the going most difficult .
Up against Downpatrick in both games Ben Magee and Aodhan Quinn (U14) and Shane Close and Daire Lavery (U13) found it tough going against the very talented RGU boys. They did however gave a good account of themselves and deserve huge praise for their efforts both in the final and in the practice they put in since beating Mayobridge in the semi final.
In the U15s Singles Finals Conor Milligan came up against Tim Prentor of RGU. Unfortunately Conor lost but also tried hard against one of the very best in Ulster .
The tree Clonduff lads in the singles claimed their County titles but not without a mighty fight.
In the U17s Lee Murnin defeated his opponent by a single point in what was the game of the day while Jayme McDonald produced a stand out performance to win his first County Handball Title (u13).
Reigning Down U12 Champion Patrick Cowan completed the hatrick of Clonduff Honours with back to back County Titles at this age group.
Orlaith and Aoife McCusker (two-thirds of the triplets) won the U12 Ladies Doubles without hitting a ball, as did Lyndon Brown in the U16 Boys - no other club had entries at these levels!
Our youngsters have a chance of three other titles next weekend - Paudie Clancy (U14), Ella McCumiskey (U12) and Eve Matthews (U13) - Good Luck!
Well done to all involved - Players and Coaches!
SOCIAL HANDBALL
Clonduff Social Handball got off to a flying start on Saturday afternoon 24th January with some great contests .
Two teams from Clonduff were put in place for the upcoming social league which begins 5 February.
NB. Social Handballers will stay with the Saturday (3 - 5pm) slot for now and Monday evenings @ 7.30 for practice.
Anyone else interested in getting involved come into Handball alley on Saturday for a game or ring Sean 07762168624 for inquiries.

MEETING FOR POTENTIAL JUVENILEMENTORS/HELPERS
Over 40 mentors and interested parents attended the Clubrooms last Monday night (19th January) to hear what Enda Gormley of Watty Grahams Maghera was saying about juvenile coaching and how his own club has achieved four consecutive Ulster Minor Football titles.
He gave a great insight into discipline, coaching/training, mentoring and said he believed that Clonduff were heading in the right direction with the introduction, last year, of the Football Development Review. He stressed the importance of adherence to Club Rules and Codes of Conduct. There was open and frank discussion in the forum at the end of the presentation.
If you hadn't thought about getting involved in coaching before last Monday then hopefully you may have left feeling inspired enough to lend a hand! Don't leave it to someone else. Use your own initiative!

SCÓR SINSIR 2015
It's that time of the year again when we ask our adults to dust off their dancing shoes, oil their singing/reciting voices, tune up their musical instruments and hone their general knowledge!
If you wish to participate in Ceil and/or Set Dancing, Solo Singing and/or Ballad Group, Instrumental Music, Leíruí, Recitation or Quiz please contact Jimmie Cousins (07802545282), Maura Quinn (02840630062) or Anita Brannigan (07720062073)
Clonduff had a full complement of participants in Scór na nÓg - can our adults measure up to the enthusiasm of our juveniles?
