An Riocht club notes

The An Riocht Annual Awards took place at the Downshire Arms Hotel Hilltown on Saturday. Welcoming the guests, including County Chairman Sean Rooney and his wife Mairead, Club chairman James Cunningham acknowledged some individuals from our club who have been recognised outside of An Riocht for their great work:

Patricia Clarke - County Secretary of Down Camogie in an All Ireland Winning Year; Diarmuid Cahill -Down GAA Assistant Treasurer & National Feile Co-ordinator; Michael O'Rourke - South Down GAA Assistant Secretary& Referees Appointments; Conor Clarke - an Ulster Colleges All Star Footballer; Seamus Curran - Recognised in the Sport NI Children's Coach of the Year category; Anne McArdle - Club Down Volunteer Award winner; Sean O'Rourke - Newry & Mourne Council Sports Advisory Committee member; Louise Clarke - National Camogie Volunteer of the Year Award winner;
And went on also to highlight some of the good work undertaken by our club in 2014:
£10,000 raised for various charities - the inaugural Kingdom to Cooley Cycle event - that Club Volunteers completed over 100 accredited training courses building the sustainability of An Riocht - the addition of our new community gym & club entrance - the first ever Blood Donation session held at Dunavil - hosting 2 All Ireland Camogie Finals at Dunavil - the formation of the Mens Shed & Ladies Group as An Riocht plays a full part in the community - the Club Maith / Club Mark & Investing in Volunteer awards achieved.
And he finished by asking everyone to get involved on a regular basis, giving a little to help with what makes our Club great.

The Senior Camogs received their medals for winning Division Two and the Minor Footballers received their medals for winning the Feis Sevens.

An Riocht Membership is now due: Full Adult £25; Senior Citizen and U18 £10; Family £60. Registration forms are available from the Club.

Kilkeel Knights basketball team beat Armagh Bisons 101 to 49 at Dunavil on Saturday past; they are back at Dunavil this Saturday v Phoenix in the Cup Quarter-final and on Sunday v Dungannon in a rearranged league fixture.

Youth 5-a-side Indoor Football at KYC starting Friday 6th March, entries being accepted until the 20th February.

Nine club coaches attended Child Protection Training in Warrenpoint on Thursday.

Friends of Grange are hosting a Coffee Morning on Sunday 8th February following the 9am mass in Grange in aid of Southern Area Hospice.

Armagh Senior Camogs practiced on the Wall Ball on Sunday.
