CONOR CLARKE ULSTER COLLEGES ALL STAR 2014
Well done to Conor - an Ulster Colleges' All Star Award is to rightly earn a place in football's Hall of Fame. Conor won the award at Right Half Back and is the first player from St Columbans, Kilkeel to win this award. This is the first year that St Columbans have played in the Colleges football competitions. Conor is still U16 in 2015. He follows An Riocht club mates Martin Clarke (2005/06), John Clarke (2000/01) and Stephen Flanagan (2000). The 15 players selected are setting the benchmark in youth football and they can be justifiably proud of their achievement in being selected as All Stars. These All Stars are known as the 2014/15 Danske Bank Football All Stars and this is the 28th year of the Ulster Colleges' All Star scheme.
Players are selected over the course of two trial games, after being initially nominated by their own school to attend the trials. The scheme rewards excellence in skill and in sportsmanship and a player who has been sent off in any game between 1st September and the dates of the trials is ineligible for selection.

NEW HEALTH & WELLBEING COMMITTEE
The Club Health & Wellbeing committee will work with other elements of the Association at national, provincial, county, and club level in identifying and responding to the health and wellbeing needs of all our club members. The committee will work in a planned and proactive manner, both directly through appropriate GAA programmes and by way of signposting to and partnering with national and local service providers and organisations. It shall do this by promoting the health agenda at every level of the Association; promoting opportunities that assist GAA units to enhance the health and wellbeing of its members; promoting policies that ensure governance and accountability in matters relating to health and wellbeing. Maybe this is your niche in our community club? See June Cunningham, Leo Sloan or any committee member to get involved.

A Coaching Conference will take place at Croke Park on Friday 9th / Saturday 10th January entitled 'Putting Youth into Perspective' taking in player retention in the mid to late teens and increasing club coaching capacity. Anyone interested in attending let Club Coaching Officer Seamus Curran know asap.

A First Aid and Defib course will be organised once all coaches are in place; the wearing of mouth guards must be enforced at all ages.

All football has taken a break for Christmas; restart details are Friday 9th January630pm P5 & P6; Saturday 10th January 11am P1 & P2; 12pm P3 & P4; Monday 12th January 6.30pm U12 (born 2003/04).

The next meeting of the football sub-committee is arranged for 7.30pm on Friday 9th January. Everyone interested in the furtherance of football in the club is invited to attend.

The Knights basketball team moved to within 3 points of the league leaders Ulster Elks with a game in hand following Saturday's win over North Star from Derry. In the Cup the Knights play Phoenix from Lisburn in the Quarter-finals.
