BACK TO BACK PLATINUM AWARDS FOR CLONDUFF GAA CLUB IN CLUB MAITH
The Club Maith accreditation is a scheme which allows Clubs to benchmark themselves against best
practice. In doing so it encourages them to aim for excellence in the core areas of GAA club activity,
i.e. governance, duty of care, community enhancement, culture & heritage, and coaching & games
development. Clubs are then given a level of accreditation which acts as a quality mark for them.
Clonduff was one of the pilot clubs when the Scheme was launched in 2007 and was one of only two clubs
to achieve the highest possible award of Platinum.
The Club Maith Award was later restructured to comply with the SportNI Clubmark Award - an essential
accreditation for sports clubs seeking funding from SportNI.
Clonduff's award will be officially presented at a later date.
2015 SCÓR NA nÓG
SCÓR NA NÓG QUALIFIER ROUND
Clonduff were represented in four different events in the Scór na nÓg Qualifier Round in Mayobridge on
Saturday, 15th November. There were three first round venues and the winners of these went directly to
the South Down Final (Clonduff won Ceili Dancing, Set Dancing and Leíruí) with those finishing second and
third in first rounds progressing to the Qualifier Round from which two in each competition would progress
to South Down Final. The Clonduff Ballad Group, Solo Singer (Kayleigh McPolin) and Recitation (Brian
McGreevy) all progressed to the South Down Final which will be held in St Mark's High School on Sunday
23rd November @ 5pm - the winner and runner up from South Down will progress to All County Final in St
Colman's College on Sunday 30th November at 1.30pm.
Thanks to all the children who represented Clonduff and their mentors, regardless of how far they
progressed - that is what Scór na nÓg is all about - it's an U16 competition and most of you will be back
again next year!
In the meantime there is the Scór na nÓg Table Quiz in Clonduff Clubrooms on Friday 21st November -
Clonduff are entering three teams that, like the rest of the Scór na nÓg competitors, have been working
hard in preparation for event on home ground.

FOOTBALL
U21 Football Championship Clonduff 1-6 Newry Shamrocks 0-13
The U21s played their last game in the group stages today at home against Newry Shamrocks. We knew
going into the game that victory would ensure qualification for a semi-final outing in the B Championship.
Given the complex nature of the competition we were also in danger of it being our last game should
Shamrocks win and Rostrevor lose away at Darragh Cross.
Unfortunately we chose today to offer up our worst display of the competition.
Whether it was a case of underestimating the opposition or unacceptable preparation we struggled from
the very first minute to get any fluency to our game.
In the opening quarter the Newry outfit totally controlled the midfield sector and lead by 2 after 15 mins.
Despite coping quite well defensively we got very little from our forward unit where poor handling and bad
decision making were becoming the consistent theme to our game. Even though we struggled to gain any
foothold to the game we managed, largely due to a very solid defensive performance, to draw level with 5
mins to go to the break. However once our shortcomings in our forward line came to the fore as another
turnover gave Shamrocks the opportunity to nudge themselves ahead at halftime
Unfortunately the second half performance was even worse than the first. A real lack of leadership in the
forward division and consistently turning the ball over meant we chased the whole game. the visitors
cruised into a 7 point lead with 10 minutes remaining and in spite of a late charge which brought a goal and
a point Shamrocks ran our deserving winners.
There is a playoff between Shamrocks and Clonduff with winner playing Rostrevor to see who progresses to
B Championship. This provides us with the chance to put on a display that at the very least our supporters
can say was honest.
