Re-fixed Down MFC final pushed back to Tuesday

October 10, 2014

The abandoned Down MFC final will now take place on Tuesday.

The Down MFC final between Newry Shamrocks and Burren, which was abandoned last Sunday because of a serious head injury to Burren player Steven Fagan and had been re-fixed for this Sunday, will now take place on Tuesday at 7.30pm in Pairc Esler.

The postponement has been caused by a bereavement. It was due to be played as part of a triple-header at Pairc Esler with the JFC final between Drumaness and Kilclief, and the IFC final between CPN and Ballymartin.

Played as a curtain-raiser to the SFC decider between Kilcoo and Burren last Sunday, the MFC final was abandoned after Fegan sustained the injury early in the second half. He was treated on the pitch before being removed to hospital by ambulance. Thankfully, the youngster's injury wasn't serious and he was released from hospital on Sunday night with nothing more than a broken nose.
