CAMOGIE
County Senior Camogie Final Clonduff 1-11 Portaferry 1-2
Clonduff had reached the County Camogie Final with a scintillating display over reigning County and Ulster Champions Ballycran a few weeks ago. Their opponents in the final were Portaferry and they demonstrated exactly why they were there when the sides met in the Final on Saturday 20th September in sun-bathed RGU Downpatrick. Portaferry got off to a whirlwind start with the advantage of a strong breeze at their backs. They raced into a 1-2 to 0-1 score before Clonduff realised they were in the final and they came more and more into the game and by the break had reduced the deficit to a mere point - 1-3 to 0-5.
In the second half Clonduff demonstrated why they had seven players on the All Ireland Winning Down team a week earlier - they quickly equalised and pulled a head. In fact they held Portaferry scoreless throughout the second half, even when awarded a penalty, the Yellas cleared the ball off the line, moved it upfield and scored a great point. The final score was Clonduff 1-11 Portaferry 1-2.
Captain Ursula Quinn accepted the Cup from Co Camogie Chair Deirdre McGrath and Player of the Tournament was chosen by Francis McGrath and the trophy was presented to Sarah Louise Carr. The team, the mentors Robert Wilson and Eileen Hamill, family and friends returned to the Clubrooms for the traditional Celebratory meal on Saturday evening.
Well done to all concerned!
All Ireland Champions Home Coming
A large crowd of Clonduffians gathered in Hilltown Square to welcome home the all conquering Down Camogie team, seven members of which are from the local club as is the Manager, Alistair McGilligan. The team was on a whistlestop tour of the Camogie Clubs in Down following their All Ireland win, Down's first in 23 years. What a reception they received.

FOOTBALL
MFC - Newry Shamrocks 4-6 Clonduff 1-8
The Minor Footballers bowed out of the Championship to pre-season favourites, Newry Shamrocks in Burren on Tuesday night (16th September). Conceding two early goals and losing two key defenders to injury left it an uphill struggle. Going in nine points down at half time many of the large crowd might have thought the game was over. However this group of lads don't give up as has been their attitude all season. A harsh sending off and a late goal by Shamrocks didn't stop the boys working hard to the final whistle. Although heartbroken at the end of the gamer there is a sense of great pride at the character shown by this team all season.
We wish Niall O'Hagan (broken leg), Noel Grant and long-term injury Padraig Harper a speedy recovery.
PJ, Arty Noel, Artie and John would like to thank the players for their commitment and dedication throughout the season. We wish the players who leave Minor leave this year Good Luck for the future. They would also like to thank Paul Shields and Liam McGreevy for their help in training and coaching. Thanks also to Johnny McCumiskey, Darren O'Hagan, Finbarr McConville and Paul McConville for spending time coaching the boys. A big THANK YOU to Karen O'Hagan who has been Minor Football team nurse for the past three seasons.
Team and scorers: Mark Bradley, Lorcan Branagan, Niall O'Hagan, Darragh O'Hanlon (0-2), Noel Grant, Charlie Carr, Caolan McAvoy, Stephen McConville (1-4), Thomas Murnin, Conor Lowry, Niall O'Hare, Ryan McGreevy (0-1), Connor Woods, Mark Devlin (0-1), Connor Murray; Subs used: Pierce Murnin, Colm Fearon, Ryan Ward, Patrick Gribben; Other subs:  Conor Keenan, James McGreevy, Liam Geoghegan Michael Grant

Kimacud All Ireland Sevens
Clonduff lads played magnificently throughout the day on Saturday 20th September winning all their games up to and including the quarter final. In the Semi final they came up against a strong St Galls side from Belfast who defeated them by 4 points - St Galls went on to lift the title, defeating Bryansford by a single point in the final. Well done to all concerned. Panel: Conor Óg , Darren & Barry O'Hagan, Finbarr & Arthur McConville, Jason Brown, Aidan Carr, John McPolin, Eamon O'Reilly and Rory McQuaid.

LADIES FOOTBALL
U14B LGFA Championship SF Clonduff 3-6 CPN Warrenpoint 4-9
Clonduff led this game in Clonduff Park for most of the game and then seemed to take their eye off the ball and conceded two late goals late on in the game to end their season on a downer - it had been a season of real progress and hopes had been high that maybe this might have been their year. Most of the team now move on to U16 for next season and if they continue to make the same progress as in the past year then the future is bright for these girls.
Down Senior Ladies Visit Clonduff Park
A number a representatives visited Clonduff Park on Sunday morning during the U12 training session. A big crowd was there to greet the girls who signed jerseys and then Ryan McShane, who along with other Clonduff man Mark Copeland are joint managers, took a training session with the young girls. It was a great experience for the young girls, most of whom are travelling to Croke Park next Sunday (28th September) to cheer on their heroes in the Intermediate Final v Fermanagh. Best wishes to Ryan, Mark and the girls - you will certainly hear us in Crokers on Sunday
