Jim McCorry has been appointed manager of the Down senior football team following a county board meeting this evening.
The Armagh native, currently in charge of reigning county champions Kilcoo, succeeds James McCartan who stepped down in July after the Mourne County's Round 2B Qualifier defeat to Kildare.
Assisting McCorry, who was earlier linked to Kieran McGeeney's backroom team in Armagh , will be former Down county stars John Shorty Treanor and Michael Walsh.
McCorry was manager of the Mayobridge team who gained Down senior honours in 2001 and also guided his native county to the 1994 NFL final.
