U10s - Dromintee Cup Winners
Well done to our U10 footballers who won the cup competition at the annual Dromintee football blitz on Saturday. The young Shanes found themselves in a very tough group along with Crossmaglen, Cullyhanna and Mullaghbawn and they went into last group game knowing that a win over Mullaghbawn would see them top their group and after a tough game the Shanes won by a few points. The Shanes found themselves paired against Dromintee in the semi-final of the cup competition and in what proved to be another great of football the Shanes once again claimed the win which saw them into the final. The final itself saw them take on Mullaghbawn again and like their previous encounter it proved to be a very closely fought affair but credit to the young Shanes, they played some brilliant football to claim the win and pick up the cup. Well done to all the boys and girls who took part on Saturday and big well done also to the management team of Joe Lennon, John Grant, Seamie O'Hare and Cathal Quinn. This group of young players and their managers have worked hard all year and their win on Saturday is just rewards for all their commitment and effort. The club would like to thank Dromintee for the invite to the tournament and their hospitality on the day. The U10s are back in action next Saturday when they travel to Moy in Co Tyrone to take part in another blitz competition.

Senior Men
Our senior men are in championship qualifier action on Monday night against Annaghmore in the Athletic Grounds with an 8.00pm throw-in.

Minor Boys
Our minor boys were involved in a pulsating championship semi-final last Monday evening against Clann Eireann which ended all square, Shane O'Neill's 1 - 11 Clann Eireann 2 - 8. The Shanes trailed by a point deep into injury time but a late equalising point sent the game to a replay which was somewhat controversially fixed for Saturday evening. Clann Eireann made the better start to the replay and went three points up before Cian Feehan got the Shanes first point with Clann Eireann tagging on another two points to lead by four. Mark McCabe registered the Shane second point of the contest with Clann Eireann responding immediately to keep them four to the good but a Ryan Quinn free reduced the deficit to just three. The Shanes were beginning to get themselves back into the game at this stage but they were hit with a real sucker punch just before the break when Clann Eireann broke up a promising Shanes attack and powered forward to score their first and lead by six at the break, 1 - 6 to 0 - 3. A Matthew Girvan point early the second-half got the Shanes back to within five but over the next ten minutes Clann Eireann all but sealed their win, scoring a goal and two points to put them to the good. Two points in a row from Mark McCabe were quickly cancelled out by Clann Eireann to keep them well ahead but credit must to the Shanes lads who kept plugging away right until the final whistle, creating a couple of goal chances but a late Cian Feehan point was all they had to show for their efforts. Final score - Clann Eireann 2 - 10 Shane O'Neills 0 - 7.

Minor Girls
Our minor girls are still on course to retain the county championship title following a hard fought win over Clann Eireann in the semi-final on Sunday morning, 10 - 11 to 6 - 19. The Shanes made the better start to the game and lead by nine points in the early stages before Clann Eireann reduced the deficit to just five midway through the first-half. The sides were fairly evenly matched for the remainder of the opening period and the Shanes went into the break six points to the good 5 - 6 to 1 - 12. An early goal saw the Shanes stretch their advantage to nine points but Clann Eireann hit a bit of purple patch then scoring two goals and four points in a row to lead the game for the first time. However the Shanes girls upped their game again and in a short period they stormed back into a twelve point lead but to their credit Clann Eireann never gave up and the finished the game the stronger side before eventually losing out by just four points.

U16 Girls
Our under 16 girls travelled to Mullabrack last Sunday evening to face Clann Eireann in this year's championship final. The Shanes got off to a great start, opening up a five point lead and in the early stages looked good value for the lead. However Clann Eireann hit a purple patch shortly before half time to go in at the break a few points ahead. Unfortunately for Shanes it was the opposition who got the start to the second half which we really needed and went further ahead. Despite being under pressure for a spell the Shanes girls came fighting back and managed to hit three late goals, but on the night it wasn't enough to claw back the deficit and Clann Eireann were deserving winners in the end. The team and management we would like to thank everyone who travelled to the game to support the girls and on behalf of the club a big well done to this group of girls for all their hard work and commitment in 2014.

U14 Boys
Our U14 boys amalgamation of Naomh Lorcan O'Neill's were involved in a fantastic game of football on Tuesday evening against Lower Creggan in the shield semi-final. The game was end to end from start to finish with both teams going all out for the win but unfortunately the young O'Neill's lads came up just short, losing by six points 4 - 11 to 3 - 8. However they can hold their heads high for their effort and commitment not just on Tuesday but throughout the year. Well done lads.

U12 Girls
Our U12 girls recorded a comprehensive win on Thursday evening away to Tir na nÓg in Portadown with a fair share of well taken goals especially by Sinead McDonnell, Abby McVerry and Brianna Mathers. Player of the match was Cliodhna Grant and captain was the very impressive Aislinn McKenna, with the rest of the girls putting in very impressive displays. The girls were scheduled to play their last league game of the season away to Clan na Gael on Sunday but the result was unknown at the time of going to press.

U8s
Our U8s are continuing to play on a regular basis and they were back in action on Sunday morning with a challenge game against Newry Shamrocks and like all their games this year the Shanes played some great football.Training continues next Friday evening at the club before they go to Dromintee next Saturday to take part in the annual Sean McGennity tournament.
