Kieran McGeeney is expected to be officially installed as Armagh senior football manager at tonight's County Board meeting - and Kilcoo boss Jim McCorry could be his sidekick.
The 2002 All-Ireland winning captain's appointment was always viewed as a formality once Paul Grimley announced his decision to stand down and he is to be handed a three-year term.
In a new development, Kilcoo manager Jim McCorry - who has been tipped to take over from James McCartan in Down - is being linked with an assistant manager role in McGeeney's backroom team.
However, speaking to the Irish News, former Armagh defender McCorry said: "All I'm hearing is rumours these days.
"As far as I'm concerned, I'm Kilcoo manager and I'm getting ready for the next round of the championship - until somebody asks you to do a job you get on with the job you have."
He added: "It would be a great honour to be involved with Armagh again and especially to work with Kieran McGeeney. It would be a great honour if Down asked me to be their manager.
"When you're doing club level football and you're asked by a county to take them on, either working with somebody like 'Geezer' or to be in charge, you take that as a great honour. It would be fantastic if that was the case but unfortunately that hasn't happened.
"I don't take anything from rumours - if there was substance to them that would be great. I wish I had a pound for every time somebody told me I was getting the Down job - I probably could retire now and go off into the sunset."
