Social Sevens

August 26, 2014

An Riocht fifth annual Social Sevens will be held this year on Saturday 30th August from 2pm to 5pm immediately after the Club's 10k Fun Run & 5k Sponsored Walk and running alongside the Family Fun Day with its numerous sideshows including Tombola, Tug of War, Petting  Farm, Bouncy Castles, Penalty Kicks, Races, Face Painting, etc. Teas, sandwiches, burgers etc will be on sale all day and there will be live music in the club from 5pm to 9pm.
Social Sevens is for adults who do not play competitively and has replaced Masters in prolonging involvement in the national games with the one obvious difference that there is no lower age limit. More than likely these players will be over 35 years but basically anyone who wants to play for a bit of fun or to keep fit can participate; the feedback from players is that they like the opportunity to meet up with former teammates and opponents. Social Sevens is also a great opportunity to keep in touch with Gaelic Games at a friendly, social level and is an effective way for past players to become reacquainted with their Clubs and as a result perhaps get involved in coaching underage teams. Running alongside the JG Donnan Social Football Tournament will be the Carmel Doran Social Camogie Tournament. To take part contact An Riocht at [email protected] Entry fee £50 per team (£5 per player) which includes food after the matches are finished. All players are advised that if they get injured they are not covered by the GAA player insurance policy unless they have their own personal cover
