St Johns Club notes

The Seniors secured a place in the quarter finals of the Trocaire Intermediate Football Championship with a 0-17 to 2-6 win over Glasdrumman in Downpatrick on Friday evening in their third and final group game.  They will now face Atticall in the quarter final stage.  Check out the club website for date and venue details when they are announced.

They close off their 2014 Division 2 campaign with a visit to Newry Bosco on Friday evening at 7.00pm.

The Reserves game against Dundrum was called off with St Johns securing the points.  On Sunday 31 August they host Teconnaught at 6.00pm.

The Minors narrowly lost a high scoring encounter against Clann Na Derg in Banbridge last Tuesday on a scoreline of 4-12 to 3-13 in the quarter final stages of the Down Minor C Plate competition.

The Under 14s travelled to Drumaness last Monday in the East Down Under 14 C championship group stages but came away on the losing side.  On Monday 25 August they hosted Teconnaught.  Score details in next weeks notes.  The following week they then travel to face and Bright.

The Under 12s game away to Dundrum is rescheduled to Wednesday 27 August and they are again on the road on Sunday 31 August when they are away to Bredagh.

Congratulations to Grainne McCann, Siobhan McCann and Michelle Morgan who were part of the Loughinisland Ladies squad who won the Down Ladies Junior Championship final at the weekend.

Camp JMac yet again hosted a great week of coaching at Pairc Naomh Eoin last week with the East Down camp taking place.  The Kevin O'Hare Memorial Cup is scheduled to take place on Sunday 14 September, subject to the announcement of the Senior championship fixtures.

Action Cancer visited the club on Wednesday 20 August during Camp JMac and engaged the young people in a series of interactive educational activities dealing with the health issues around diet, activity, smoking and drinking.

Action Cancer will be back at the club this Wednesday 27 August to deliver Health and Cancer awareness talks to men (at 7.00pm) and women (8.00pm).  Everyone is welcome.

The annual Gerry Burns Tournament will be hosted at Pairc Naomh Eoin on Saturday 30 August.  On the same day, the Masters squad are taking part in the An Riocht Recreational Sevens tournament on Saturday 20 August.

Lotto numbers were 2, 4, 9 and 27.  Donal O'Connor was a £10 winner.  The jackpot next week is £3,750.
