Senior Men
With their league fate already decided our senior men went into the championship on Saturday evening hoping for a change of fortune but in the end they suffered a heavy ten point defeat to Annaghmore, 3- 12 to 1 - 8.
Things looked good for the Shanes in the opening stages of the game with two early points from Paul O'Rourke before young Mark McCabe showed great composure to find the back of the net to give his side a five point advantage. A point from Oliver Gaughran kept the score-board ticking over for the Shanes before a long diagonal ball towards the Shanes square was fisted to the net to give Annaghmore their first score of the game. The Shanes continued to play the better football at this stage and two further points, both frees, from Paul O'Rourke and Neil Paul Lennon kept them five ahead but Annaghmore hit four points in a row to get themselves back within one. Another O'Rourke point put the Shanes two up again but Annaghmore replied almost immediately to keep just the minimum between the sides before O'Rourke popped over his fifth point of the half. Soon after the Shanes fell behind when another long diagonal ball towards their goal was once again fisted to net put Annaghmore one up and they went on to add a further two points to lead by three at the break, 2- 7 to 1 - 7.
The second-half was completely one-way traffic as Annaghmore dominated proceedings and they added another 1 - 5 to their total whilst the Shanes only scored a solitary point right at the end of the game with O'Rourke once again on target.

Senior Ladies
Our senior ladies were due to play Mullabrack last Wednesday night but the game was postponed at the last minute. The game is now scheduled to take place this Wednesday in Mullabrack.

Minor Boys
Our minor boys are scheduled to play at home against Madden in the next round of the championship next Monday evening, 25th August.

U16 Boys
Our U16 boys clinched the Division 2a league recently with a comprehensive win over St Pauls. The Shanes went into the game knowing that a win would seal the title and they hit the front early and from then on the result was never in any doubt and they ran out winners on a score-line of 6 - 17 to 3 - 4. The lads played some excellent football throughout the year under the guidance of David Muckian and Niall McGinn and every one of them fully deserve their success. The winning team on the night was: Michael Bradley, Paddy Garvey, Eoghan McQuade, Michael McParland, Ronan Byrne, Conor Magee, Kenny Mooney, Seosamh Hillen, Ruairi Taylor, Niall O'Reilly, Eamon McCabe, Ciaron McMillan, Matthew Girvan, Emmet Osborne, Matthew Barr, Declan Harris, Eoin Sloan, Jack Morgan, Ciaran Mackin, Michael Byrne and Kacper Janik with injured captain Padraig Magee on hand to collect the trophy.

U16 Girls
Our U16 girls travelled to Grange last Monday evening and came away with another two league points. With both sides missing quite a few players due to holidays and injuries it was Shanes who had the much stronger team on the night displaying excellent movement and passing ability to continually create scoring chances throughout. Well done to both teams for showing a high level of skill and commitment from start to finish. The girls are scheduled to play Clann Eireann away on Monday evening and all girls are asked to meet at the Shanes at 5.30pm.

U14 Girls
The U-14s girls played Mullabrack at home in the league on Tuesday last. Following a well contested game, the Shanes won out and thereby stay in contention for Division 1 with three games remaining. Star of the show was Jade Beattie who scored three goals. Training continues on Tuesday evening at 6.00pm in Shanes with a league match against Cullyhanna at 7.00pm this Thursday 21st August - all girls to be at club for 6.30pm. The U14 championship final is also due to be played in the next few weeks but we are still awaiting confirmation of the date so it is important all girls are at training.

U12 Girls
The U12 girls put in a tremendous display but unfortunately they lost out narrowly to Armagh Harps in the U12 championship semi-final at Lissummon last Monday evening. It was a very spirited display and Cathal was very proud of the girls' efforts. The girls were back in league action on Sunday against Armagh Harps but the result was unknown at time of going to press. Training for U12s continues is also at 6.00pm on Tuesday evening at the club with the league game away to Clann Eireann next Sunday 24th August at 5.00pm.

Well Done
Well done to Louise Kenny and her Armagh senior ladies team-mates following their fully deserved win over Laois in the All-Ireland quarter-final on Saturday. Well done also to the Armagh Ladies U17 team who recently won the inaugural All-Ireland blitz tournament, especially all the Shanes girls on the panel: Aimee Mackin (who captained the side), Tara Byrne, Ebony Rafferty and Aoibheann Jones.

Best Wishes
Best wishes to Niamh Carragher who broke her arm during the recent U12 girl's championship game, unfortunately the second break she has suffered in the past few weeks.

Beginners and general yoga classes take place in the clubhouse every Wednesday night at 7.30pm. Everyone is welcome to come along.
