Shane O'Neill's club notes

July 21, 2014
Minor Boys
Our minor boys have a home game against Middletown this Tuesday evening. All players are asked to meet at the club no later than 6.45pm.

U16 Boys
Our U16 boys suffered a disappointing league defeat against Carrickcruppen on Thursday evening, 0 - 12 to 0 - 6. The first-half was a low scoring affair with Carrickcruppen scoring five points (four frees) with the Shanes registering just a single point from the boot of Emmet Osborne. 'Cruppen got the first point of the second-half with Eamon McCabe replying for the Shanes only for the home to get the next two to put them six to the good. However, the Shanes kept plugging away with their defence working hard and they got the next three points to get themselves right back into the game, the scores coming from Emmet Osborne (0 - 2) and Ciarán Mackin (0 - 1). Two points from 'Cruppen increased their advantage to five with Ciarán Mackin replying for the Shanes with a pointed free before the home side got the last two scores to claim the win. The lads are scheduled to be at home to Sarsfields on Thursday evening.

U16 Girls
Our U16 girls have a home league game on Monday night against Dromintee at 7.00pm. All players are asked to meet at the club at 6.15pm. The U16 championship final against Clann Eireann is now scheduled to take some time during the first week of September. The girls also had a very useful challenge game away Burren last Monday evening. Both teams played out an exciting high tempo match from start to finish with Shanes coming out on top by a few points. With continual interchanging of subs, everyone got plenty of playing time. Well done to all players on their good performance and thanks also to Burren for hosting the game.

U14 Boys
The U14 boys amalgamation of Naomh Lorcan O'Neills are scheduled to play Mullaghbawn on Tuesday evening.

Happy Birthday
A big happy birthday this week to Peggy McGeeney who celebrated her 90th birthday at the week-end.

Hard Luck
Hard to the Armagh minor ladies who were defeated in the All-Ireland semi-final on Saturday.

Condolences
Everyone associated with the club would like to offer their sincere sympathy to Armagh Ladies manager James Daly on the recent sad passing of his wife Ann. Our thoughts and prayers are with James and children Katie, Megan, Ryan and their entire family circle at this time.
