Kilcoo Club Notes

July 14, 2014
On Monday the fourths team played neighbours Liatroim in Kilcoo. Playing an attractive brand of football the home team dominated mid field and were able to launch repeated attacks into the visitors defence. Kilcoo 01-12 Liatroim 01-07
On Tuesday the minors played Baileghlas in Kilcoo. Having shown a steady improvement in every game the minors scored a blistering 05-15 to the visitors 00-11. The under 16 camogs travelled An Riocht and despite a fantastic effort they were unlucky not to get a result.
On Wednesday evening the under 12 girls footballers travelled to Dundrum and recorded a good win but more importantly they played with great style and skill.
On Thursday evening the under 16 boys took on Tullylish in Kilcoo and with both sets of forwards on top form, this game threw up a total of 29 scores and left both sets of supporters with a lot of positives to talk about. Kilcoo 06-08 Tullylish 05-10
On Friday evening the senior footballers travelled to Liatroim were they suffered a 4 point defeat. Liatroim 01-10 Kilcoo 00-09
On Saturday of the week previous 34 under 10, 8 and 6 camogs travelled to Mayobridge for a blitz and all of the girls had a fantastic day and showed of their skills for all to see.
On Saturday evening the thirds team travelled to Longstone due to Cemetery Mass being held in Kilcoo on Sunday, however disappointingly no referee turned up for this game, and so both teams were left to ponder on what might have been.
On Sunday evening the senior camogs mixed with a sprinkling of underage players visited Drumaness. This game was organised as part of the Drumaness Festival and in a bid to introduce camogie to their club. All in all the newcomers put on a great display and with some of Kilcoo's younger players doing very well at this level, both clubs have a lot to look forward to. Later on Sunday the seconds played Rostrevor in Kilcoo. The home team had somewhat of a nightmare in the first half and trailed by 8 points at the interval. In the second half they upped their game and pressed the Rostrevor defence eventually taking the lead in the third minute of added time. Unfortunately for Kilcoo the Rostrevor lads were awarded a free kick a minute later and the equalising score from this was the last action of the game. Kilcoo 00-12 Rostrevor 01-09.
There was no jackpot winner in the tote this week. Numbers 2, 17, 20 and 24. Match three winners Oliver Fitzpatrick, John Morgan, Frankie Rooney and Paul Martin. Next week's jackpot £4,900.
