11 April 2014 ACFL II Bredagh -v - Carryduff
Carryduff seniors opened their 2014 All-County Football League Division II campaign against neighbours Bredagh at Cherryvale Park in fine conditions for football.
Bredagh were first of the mark, Donal Hughes pointing in the second minute. Donal McKeever had an opportunity to point for Carryduff in the 3rd minute but kicked wide. Seán McGonagle levelled matters in the 5th minute but Kevin Doran converted a 7th minute free to put Bredagh ahead. Points from McKeever (12th), Andy Moorehead (14th) and Conor McCullough (16th) saw Carryduff establish a two point lead. Kevin Doran picked up a yellow card (17th) as the game became more intense but referee Ciaran Brannigan kept control and allowed the game to flow and develop. Joe McFlynn failed to convert in the 21st minute but a further point from midfielder Jonny Henry (25th) after some sterling individual work from wing back McCullough, gave Carryduff a three point cushion. Some lapses of concentration on Carryduff's part and failures to pick up Bredagh players on the break enabled an industrious Bredagh to pick up two points, Conor Costello (27th) and Donal Hughes (30th) knocking over to leave a single point between the teams at the break, Bredagh 0-04 Carryduff 0-05.
The game was levelled immediately on the restart as Hughes pointed from play for Bredagh. Henry Deasley managed to get through in the second minute of the half but blasted wide of the Carryduff goal.
Seán McGonagle steadied Carryduff nerves, converting a free in the thirty-third minute. Hughes levelled the game (34th) and as the intensity and workrate increased, both teams squandered a number of opportunities, Michael McGrath missing for the visitors as Hughes kicked wide for Bredagh.
The home support were in fine voice when Michael Robinson found the Carryduff net in the 40th minute, giving Bredagh a three point cushion. Carryduff substitute James Guinness pointed in the 41st minute to keep Carryduff in touch. Cormac Hughes pointed Bredagh three ahead again (45th) but Ronan Lawlor's 46th minute point meant Carryduff remained within touch of their rivals. Niall Mulholland restored Bredagh's three point advantage in the 49th minute and it looked that Breadgh were in position to finish strongly and claim the league points. However, a sterling final ten minutes from a disciplined Carryduff saw McKeever (50th), Ben Fitzsimons (51st) and Seán McGonagle (57th) all score from play to level the game as Carryduff effectively closed the Bredagh attack out for the last ten minutes.

14 April 2014 ACFL II Carryduff - v - Aghaderg
Carryduff proved too strong for Aghaderg when the reds visited Páirc Aodha Dhuibh on Monday evening last. Despite a number of handling errors and some questionable decision-making by the Carryduff players, their workrate and forward momentum when in possession resulted in the game being effectively ended as a contest by half-time. The Carryduff defence had held Agahderg to three points, two of which came from frees. Ben Fitzsimons kicked three points from play and Joe McFlynn (two), Ronan Lawlor, Seán McGonagle and Conor McCullough all added points throughout the thirty minutes of play before roving full-back Conor McFlynn buried the ball into the Aghaderg net in the 28th minute of play. A moment later, big brother full-forward Joe McFlynn added Carryduff's second goal.
The half time scoreline read Carryduff 2-08 Aghaderg 0-03.
Carryduff opened the second half with intensity. Andy Mooorehead kicked wide before Sean McGonagle added Carryduff's third goal (34). Aghaderg converted a penalty in the 35th minute and added two further points in the 36th (free) and 42nd minutes. Carryduff, however, dominated the second half with further points from McGonagle (3), McGrath (2) McKeever, Cassidy and Early. A hat-trick of gaols from full forward Joe McFlynn left the final scoreline Carryduff 6-16 Aghaderg 1-05.
The Carryduff team was;- Gary Smyth, Ronan McGrady, Conor McFlynn, Mark Morris, Conor Cassidy, Chris O'Neill, Conor McCullough, Jonny Henry, Donal McKeever, Michael McGrath, Ronan Lawlor, Andy Moorehead, Seán McGonagle, Joe McFlynn, Ben Fitzsimons.

19 April 2014 ACFL II An Ríocht - v - Carryduff
A depleted Carryduff squad travelled to Dunavil to meet the kingdom in the Easter susnshine and despite losing the league points put in a spirited display to make it an entertaining game that went all the way to the final whistle.
Conor Cassidy opened the scoring with a point for Carryduff in the first minute. An Riocht replied immediately, Patrick Cole pointing. John Clarke converted a free for An Riocht (2nd) but a Carryduff point from Conor McCullough (3rd) had the home support get behind their men. The Kingdom then enjoyed a purple patch between the third and seventeenth minutes with points from Noel McArdle (3rd and 14th), Clarke (free, 7th), Doyle (12th), Cole (14th) before Cole found the Carryduff net in the 17th minute after Carryduff players failed to deal with the Kingdom's overlapping running. With eight points between the teams, Carryduff looked to be in very serious trouble. Conall early pulled a point back for the visitors but Cole's eighteenth minute point cancelled that score and a further point by wing back Conor Doyle extended the lead to nine points. Conor McCullough pointed for Carryduff but Darren White's 24th Minute point kept An Ríocht's advantage intact.
Conal Early added two points, one from play (29th) the other a converted free (26th)to help Carryduff's cause but John Clarke's fisted point (26th) left Carryduff trailing by eight points at the break as An Ríocht led by 1-11 to 0-06.
Carryduff, playing with the breeze to their backs, came good in the second half. As Declan Doyle picked up a yellow card (31) Sean McGonagle kicked wide for Carryduff before Early converted two frees (32nd and 35th). McGonale missed an opportunity to convert (36th) before Michael McGrath pointed (37th) reducing the deficit to five points.
However, just when Carryduff were making inroads, lady luck frowned upon them. A long ball into the heart of the Carryduff defence caused panic and goalkeeper Smyth and full back McFlynn collided. The ball broke in front of corner forward White who promptly despatched it to the Carryduff net to put eight points between the teams again.
Tenacious Carryduff defending held An Ríocht to two points, one from play (50th) and a converted free (59th) as Carryduff pegged on a further five points from McCullough (44th), Early ( two frees, 46th and 54th) and McGonagle (free, 55th and from play 58th).
Despite a spirited second half when they more than matched An Ríocht, Carryduff's lacklustre first half performance had left them chasing the game and the eight point ask proved too much for them to peg back.

P3 / P4 Boys Football
The Carryduff P3 and P4 boys have been continuing their training on Thursdays and their coaches have been pleased with their progress to date. The lads have had the chance to put their learning in to practice in through a number of Go Games and they have shown up very well.
On 5 April, two Carryduff teams travelled to Lamh Dearg in Hannahstown for a blitz with the host club, St Pauls, St Johns and Ardoyne. These games were six a side which ensured that everyone got involved and both Carryduff teams racked up some very impressive scores. The Carryduff teams involved were: Finbarr Blayney, Eoin Blayney, J P Hegarty, Ronan Kelly, Matthew Loftus and Lorcan O'Hagan in one team and another made up of Rory Hughes, Declan McArdle, Patrick McCabe, Eoin McKernan, Luke Morris and Michael Tinnelly.
On Monday 14 April, St Brigid's Belfast brought twenty players to Lough Moss which meant that three games could be played with our boys. Again, the Carryduff teams showed up very impressively on a sunny, almost balmy evening. St Brigid's were worthy opponents and helped to bring the best out of the Carryduff boys who took some wonderful scores and put together a number of impressive passages of play.
The boys will continue to work on their skills in preparation for a number of blitzes and tournaments over the forthcoming months.
Senior Ladies
Carryduff Senior Ladies enjoyed a victory over neighbours Bredagh in the Ladies Senior football League on Saturday evening. The final scoreline of 0-12 to 0-06 reflected the game as Carryduff had numerous opportunities to extend their advantage but proved wasteful in front of the posts.
