Leagues swing into action

April 11, 2014

Antrim manager Frank Dawson
This evening (Friday) marks the start of the 2014 senior Division 1 and 2 leagues.

The tie of the first round in Division 1 is unquestionably the meeting of holders Kilcoo and Burren. This is Jim McCorry's final year in charge of Kilcoo and he will be eager to go out on a high. However, the fact that Burren finished last season empty-handed will make them doubly determined to do well this year.

There will be plenty of interest in Bryansford this year following the appointment of Frank Dawson as manager. 'Ford reached the recent Ulster League final and are fancied to win away to Ballyholland.

The other games down for decision in Division 1 are: Glenn v Annaclone; Clonduff v Tullylish; Loughinisland v Castlewellan; Mayobridge v Saval; Downpatrick v Longstone; Liatroim v Rostrevor.

The Division 2 ties are: Saul v Darragh Cross; Drumgath v CPN; Attical v Ballymartin; Bredagh v Carryduff; Glasdrumman v Clann na Banna; Ahaderg v Teconnaught; An Riocht v St. John's; Newry Shamrocks v Bosco.

In Division 3, where some teams have already played four rounds, Killyleagh take on Kilclief, St. Michael's meet Mitchel's, Bright face Ardglss, St. Paul's square up to Dundrum and Dromara take on table-toppers Drumaness.
