Down: time to forget about the 2013 Ulster SHC final

Down feel that there's no point in playing the 2013 Ulster SHC final.

Last year's provincial showdown between the Ardsmen and Antrim was postponed during the summer and no new date has ever been set. Down's message to Ulster Council is clear: forget about it.

"To be honest, we were on a good run at the time last summer and I would have loved a game against Antrim then," Conor Woods says in The Irish News.

"But now I would rather just aim to get into the 2014 Ulster final and forget about the 2013 one because what's it going to do for anybody?

"I feel like it's not valued at all and I'd rather go for the 2014 Ulster final."

Manager Gerard Monan agrees: "I don't care about it particularly. If it has to be played it has to be played, but we'll not get too excited about it because last year is gone as far as we're concerned."
