Speedy recovery to Arthur McConville who broke a bone in his hand during the SFC game v Castlewellan on Thursday night. Unfortunately it looks as if Arthur's season is over!
Commiserations to Down Ladies who bowed out of the Championship on Saturday. Be proud of yourselves girls - you lit up our Summer!

Football
SFC - Clonduff v Castlewellan
Seniors beaten 2-15 to 1-6 by Castlewellan - but it certainly wasn't as one-sided as the score suggests which somewhat flatters the winners. Clonduff had a lot of play in the first half but failed to convert and things got worse when a player got a very harsh second yellow card on 17 mins into first half. They actually took the lead in the second half but just ran out of steam. Clonduff had 12 wides and dropped a number of balls into the keeper's hands. Despite the defeat they progress to the quarter finals where they will face one of the group winners - draw will be made Monday night following the last group game.
ACPRFL Clonduff II 2-6 v Kilcoo II 3-6
The Clonduff boys deserved deserved something from this game in Clonduff Park on Sunday afternoon. Kilcoo got the faster start but Clonduff quickly got into the game and were by far the better team in the first half to lead by six points. It was a different story in the second half with Kilcoo dominating the play. Clonduff missed a penalty and succumbed to the proverbial sucker punch in the dying seconds of the game. It was an excellent game and a draw would have been a fair result.

The Minor Footballers had a good workout v Dromintee under lights in Clonduff Park on Wednesday night
U16 Football
The boys failed to fire and dropped out of the Championship (2 points) on Thursday night v St Paul's in Holywood on Thursday night - the same night as the Senior Championship! But what a different story it was when they met CPN Warrenpoint on Saturday evening. They dominated every sector of the field and found their scores easier to come by winning 5-12 to 0-6.
The U12 footballers participated in the Liatroim Tournament on Saturday and the U10s took part in the Burren Hospice Tournament
Hurling
JHC QF - Kilclief 2-15 Clonduff 1-12
The Senior Hurlers season came to an abrupt end at the impressive new facilities at St John's, Drumnaquoile pitch on Monday night.
This was definitely a game of two halves. Clonduff opened strongly with 3 early scores from John Murphy. However the Lough Shore men began to dominate around midfield and hit back with several long range points. By the twentieth minute Kilclief had taken a strong lead on the back of two badly conceded defensive goals from Clonduff. Half time score Clonduff 0-7 Kilclief 2-11
As has been the story all season, Clonduff were much stronger in the second half. The half back line started to dominate. Up front the forwards started to see more of the sliothar and the Yellas started to go into tackles with a lot more purpose and vigour. Kilclief was starting to get rattled following several goal lines scambles. Clonduff misses a penalty before Andrew Quinn hit the sliothar to the back of the net after another goal line scramble - there was 4 in it at this stage but Clonduff were unable to get those crucial scores. Kilclief broke up the field twice in the dying minutes to convert two close-in frees and locked out the match.

U-16 Hurling League - Clonduff 7-13 Ballyvarley 5-7
Clonduff u-16 hurlers returned to the top of the league with a convincing twelve point win over Ballyvarley on Tuesday in Clonduff. After a tight first half, Clonduff had a slight advantage of 1-7 to 0-5 at the break.
In the second half, the Yellas began to show the sort of form which has made them real contenders for the league title this year.
Despite a late Ballyvarley fightback, Clonduff were never really threatened in the second half and ran out comfortable twelve point winners in the end.
Clonduff are now joint top of the league with Bredagh. However, Bredagh have played all their games and Clonduff still have one game remaining. If they win that game then they win the league.

Ladies Football
Ladies Intermediate Football League
The Clonduff Ladies finished their League in great style in a very busy Clonduff Park (three simultaneous games - this game, U16 Hurling, Minor Camogie) on Tuesday night with a 5-16 to 2-8 win over Tullylish Ladies. Five dual players were participating in the Minor Camogie Championship game on the top pitch. The team on the field played some magnificent football and got some great scores with glimpses of what might have been. This was the final game of the season - they are taking part in St Jude's All Ireland Sevens on 28th September.
U14 Ladies Football League - Clonduff 3-9 v CPN Warrenpoint 1-3
The Clonduff girls got back on track with a good win v CPN Warrenpoint at home on Sunday morning.
Playing some nice football especially in the second half the girls showed a gritty determination against the seasiders. Fighting for every ball the yellas held of many strong attacks. In goals Shannon was at her usual best saving many attempts on goal. While Cara Boden ,Summer Brannigan and Ellan Lively are now a solid and settled full back line. Half backs of Laura Mackin,, Margaret McEvoy and Amy Lowry were strong and creative going forward while Niamh Fearon, Clara Cowan and Tiarna Mullin in the middle worked tiredlessly as always throughout. Half forwards of Tamzin Brannigan, Ciara O'Reilly, and Ally Magee, showed well while the full forwards of Molly Brown, Erin Rafferty and Ciara McPolin made good use of quality ball sent in. In all a good team performance girls!
U12 Ladies Football
Clonduff U12 Ladies Footballers participated in Newry Bosco Tournament on Saturday 31st August. The girls played exceptionally well winning all three games in their group to finish top. The girls fought very hard in the semi final but unfortunately were beaten by a very strong Clan Na Gael team who went on to win the Tournament. Up front Alanna, Paula and Sarah took some great scores and were well supported by Aoife Brown, Una and Caitlin. In defence Paddi, Emma, Elena and Ella were very solid making some great tackles and blocks. Aoife Woods, Amy and Sinead were superb working tirelessly all day. In goals Fianna made some terrific saves, even saving a point in the semi final! This was a great day of football.

Camogie
Minor Championship - Clonduff v An Riocht
Almost every player gets a mention on the scoresheet. Top scorer was captain Roisin Mulholland in full fight at full forward with 4-5. Laura Grant along and Petrina Lively were also in great form notching up 2-3 each. Petrina was switched to half back from which she got two scores showing the diversity of her talent. Cousin Jenna Boden also got reversed roles in the second half and grabbed two fine points from play while Ciara Tumilty also sneaked up the line to rattle the onion bag. Cassie Fitzpatrick put in a player of the match performance at midfield scoring 1-3. Caoimhe Morgan was also flying at the An Riocht defence and was rewarded with 1-2 for her efforts. Young Hannah McAteer also stepped up to mark with a lovely point from play. Elizabeth Wilson as usual worked tirelessly at midfield and provided the forwards with a lot of great ball. Although the forwards had the ball in their half for the best part of the game it can't go without mentioning Keeper Micháela Murphy and her steady defence of Shannon O'Hagan , Clare McGilligan and Nolleen McAlinden who kept any An Rioct attacks at bay. Well done Girls. Super Effort! Keep it up.
The U16s will play the refixed Championship game v Liatroim on Tuesday evening.
Handball

Any member of Clonduff GAA Club is free to use Handball Wall at St Patrick's PS at any time during the Summer Holidays.

Clonduff Shop for Merchandise will be open on Wednesday evenings from 6.30 to 7.30 and on Sunday mornings from 10.30 to 11.45.
